Inspired by the Jeep thread, what’s the opinion of Ram trucks?
JD Power rates them the most reliable truck brand but they are a Stellantis brand just like Jeep and Chrysler and I always told myself I would never buy one of those shitty brands after seeing the crap my friends and family put up with those cars.
But is Ram different? Or is it all smoke and mirrors and I should buy a Chevy?

Buy what you want, it’s your money that you will be spending.

What you get for the price is worth it to me.

They’re all the same. Just get what you like.

I’ve got a 2015 2500. It had one issue about 5 yrs ago. Other than that, it’s been a good truck.

My husband wants a Ram, that’s all my dad ever owned
We had a Dodge Durango for 11 years, 200,000 miles - didn’t give us problems until we got new tires and the service place busted the steering knuckle and put a hole in the ac system (which they said they didn’t)
So we traded it in bc no a/c - but it ran fine, and we probably should’ve just kept it

I keep tabs on the fleet at work. We only buy domestic trucks and only keep them until they get about 150,000 miles on them. My experience with the Rams is that they have slightly more convenience-type features than Ford or Chevy. They also have more safety recalls.
Take all of that for what it is worth.

My company buys us Dodges. I have had a 2020 big horn with the 5.7 hemi and a 2022 lone star with the 6 cylinder torque. Both very dependable trucks I never had any issues with.

Buddy just purchased a 2026 1500 Laramie for 72k …. That was the day two idiots met. Get a f150 with the coyote and be done with it. Ram/jeep are trash is you ask me

I have the 2021 Laramie with the 5.7 hemi. 60k miles so far and 0 issues. No complaints here.

I love my ram 2500. Without a doubt the best truck i have ever owned.
In the end though, no one that matters is gonna give a F what you drive. If you like it, get one. I personally love mine.
If you like a different kind, get that. It will all work out in the end

Have a 2019 Laramie 5.7L and it’s the best truck I’ve ever owned. Interior is super comfortable and nice. Great smooth ride. Highly recommend

In my experience, they are awesome for tailgating someone who is only doing 90 on the interstate.

Driven by guys that would choose hooters and ojos locos over Twin Peaks.

2021 Ram 1500 Laramie 5.7 etorque. 70k miles. No issues. My favorite truck I’ve ever owned. Engine has enough power. Transmission is smooth and always seems to find the right gear. Tows my bay boat well on the interstate in 7 th gear hums along at 2200 rpms (never breaks a sweat). Gas mileage sucks when towing but who cares, they all do. At this point in ownership My last truck…Silverado was burning more oil than gas, had all 4 door lock actuators fail, the cruise control sensor on the break pedal fail, the emissions canister thingy that captures gas tank fumes broke, and that’s just off the top of my head. The Alpine stereo is great. Everything just works like it did when I bought it. He’ll, even the automatic running boards still work… I thought for sure when I bought it I would regret that because surely they’d fail after a year or two. Nope still works. I’m buying another one next year.

For trucks, I’ve always believed:
Ford >> Chevy >> Ram
I’ve owned a Chevy and an F150. Rams look great, but I’ve met enough Ram owners that let me know that I’m right.

As a Grand Cherokee owner (not a truck but this applies) I can tell you two things about Stellantis dealerships/service departments.
They put out nice vehicles and their service departments are generally a nightmare to work with if anything goes wrong.
Their service being mediocre at best wasn't a problem 10 years ago when they tended to be a bit cheaper to buy than competing vehicles but their push to make Jeep and Ram more upscale didn't include forcing their dealerships and service departments to upgrade as well. Good luck getting your vehicle back quickly or getting any kind of loner. Best case is usually a $50 per diem rental credit that you'll need to jump through hoops to get. People spending $60-100k on their higher trim vehicles should be getting high quality service and most Stellantis locations simply do not have it.
So that said, I really do love my Grand Cherokee but I am also hesitant to get another Stellantis product. Not so much b/c I believe it will crap out or have excessive recalls but b/c I know if there are issues it's going to be a really horrible experience.

Haven’t had the one issue throughout my 5 years with a Ram.
