Democrats might have a 2012 Romney type problem on their hands in 2028

The republicans have a clear leader in their party in Trump just as the dems had in Obama in 2012. If Trump endorses a Vance/Rubio ticket, it at least has some incumbency power to it.
It was my hypothesis at the time that Romney never had a chance because he was sort of the "default" candidate in a weak pool.
I think it's possible that someone like Gavin Newsom might emerge as a similar type of "default" candidate in a weak pool. He would easily carry the deep blue states but I don't know how a California politician will resonate with the purple states.
Politico posted a poll stating what I believe to be true: at this juncture the democrats don't have a clear leader and democrats believe the same thing.
Poll: Democrats Unclear on who their leader actually is

Vance is a gifted politician. He’s as good as we could hope for in 2028.
Newsom is slimy and fake. Shapiro is a better speaker and candidate but they won’t elect him because he’s a Jew.

There are no actual leaders in the Democrat party. They are a hive mind only interested in power. They only exist to give other people's money away after taking a cut for themselves.

Bill Clinton 2.0. There will be enough support from suburban women to make 2028 close.

What if the Democrats have a candidate that wants to Make America Great Again and instead of a baseball cap, he wears a Cowboy hat or a sombrero, or a turbin or a kippah??

They'll need a new slogan though

Romey blew it in the debates and with "Project Orca."
He had a wide-open opportunity to eviscerate Obama in the "The 1980s are now calling and asking for their foreign policy back" moment. Then he cowed like a eunuch when Candy Crowley entered her debate as a third participant, lying on behalf of Obama.

Why? Do the Democrats not want to Make AMERICA Great Again or do they prefer Make America GRATE Again?

Let a dozen republican hopefuls fight it out in a primary process. And try to ignore background noise from Trump. By the time we get to the election Trump will be a lame duck. It happens every time.

Republicans will struggle without Trump on the ticket, but the good news is Vance is a very strong candidate on his own merit and he has time to get people fired up to vote for him.
Republicans will need to go all in on policy and wielding political power when in office. For years we have dealt with empty suit republicans that just delay democrats running to the left and Trump is finally pushing back. If Vance can keep up that type of work, more middle of the road people will trust him and come out to vote to avoid the insanity of the left. Here’s to hoping Kamala runs again

Romney had an opening but didn't want to insult a black candidate. He sabotaged himself.

He never had a puncher's chance in that election

Newsom / AOC is a formidable ticket.
Having AOC even as VP would energize the heck out of 18 to 45 year old women.

AOC is the Democrat leader, they just need to nominate her.

Even Romney knew Obama was ordained and just feigned a challenge so he could remain in good favor with the globalists.

I see AOC as more of a potential cabinet pick if anything at all
Can't imagine she would be on the ticket
But she does have name recognition going for her even if it's not for the greatest reasons
