Was reading on ESPN that the lawsuit was settled. They found Pat had no knowledge of the hazing. He sounds ready to get back in coaching.

He was always praised for doing more with less. Everyone always said how great of a coach he was and if he was at a power house he would be as good as anyone.

I know he spent his entire time up north... but he would be worth a call.

He should get a call from many schools, but LSU is not one of them.

No. He should not.

Where do y’all come up with ideas like this?

Well... for the last 15 to 20 yr of watching Game Day and every analyst, coach, and everyone else rave about this guy. Then when you look at what he accomplished at Northwestern... he is the winningest coach in Northwestern school history. The records he set there are impressive for Northwestern. When he was coaching his name was held in the same regard as all the top coaches.. the problem was he wasn't going to leave Northwestern.

I am not saying he deserves or should get the job but with all the other names being thrown out..... he deserves a call as much as any of the rest not named Saban or Kiffin.

but, if you want to share your reasons why Fitzgerald doesn't deserve a call then I would love to read them.

His kid is a freshman Preferred Walk On QB at Iowa and Pat is some kind of analyst or something for Iowa this year.

I bet he gets the Iowa job in 1-2 years when Kirk Ferentz retires.

He was catching his son's private school HS team in Chicago area and is very tied in to the private HSs up there. I think he'll want a job close to Chicago to leverage that connection.

No he shouldn’t, he is a good HC but a trashy human being.

You are on to something. Quality coach for a reasonable price. Great value!

His last 4 years in coaching he was 12-31.

So he definitely deserves a top 5 job

I did a thread yesterday that is maybe premature because Jonathan Smith hasn't been fired yet, but I heard from someone somewhat connected at Michigan State that he is going there.

Fitzgerald would be a great guy to bring him for a team who hires a young coach to help him, like what Vandy did for Lea with Kill.

That gives a major program enough space for the PR issues while helping the program be run by a professional and experienced guy.

On the field, things spiraled for Fitzgerald at NW when his longtime DC, Mike Hankwitz, retired. After that, Fitz went 4-20 (2-16). He'll get a shot somewhere, though.

He is a great coach, but he has spent all his time in the Midwest/Great Lakes region. I’m glad he was exonerated, but I don’t know that he would be as great at an SEC school. If Fickell is let go next year, or if Ferentz retires, those jobs make way more sense.
