How crazy is that. Kelly coached

10-4 (West Champion against a mega dynastry)
10-3 Heisman winner
9-4
5-3
Fired without cause at LSU with 4 games remaining.
He was 34-14

Curley Hallman (16-28):
1991 LSU 5–6 3–4 T–6th
1992 LSU 2–9 1–7 6th (Western)
1993 LSU 5–6 3–5 T–4th (Western)
1994 LSU 4–7 3–5 4th (Western)

We give a pass to people who.talk walk and think like us.

The only true reason for Kelly getting fired was fitment. It had absolutely nothing to do with winning or how he ran the program.

The next coach will come with a weaker resume than Kelly and will leave with a worse record.

In this era of NIL and in this league with 8 former national championship winners in the current BCS and post BCS era, where Texas and Texas A&M has a massive financial advantage in the NIL game, asking 1 of 3 playoff births from 9 powerhouse programs and 2-3 more good programs is simply asking for too much.

Firing a coach for fitment and not making the playoff is simple bad karma. The price will be paid

We fired John Brady 2 years removed from a final 4 appearance and where has our MBB program been since then.

We fired Archer to hire Hallman and where did it get us.

Standards were a tad lower back when Hallman was here.

The overall environment was different when Hallman was here. It's not really comparable to now.

And it's a little disingenuous to just note the proximity of the final four to Brady's firing. It was time for him to go when he went.

With boosters ponying up over $30M these days annually to fund players and coaches the expectations and consequences are much higher.

All the openings in college football today tell you this is the new normal.

If LSU remains well funded, the new coach has 2 years to get in the playoffs. If he fails he and Verge are out.

But the standards shifted too much.

I don’t think we’re elite as a program compared to others.

Les got run for 8-9 win regular seasons. BK wasn't going to get a pass after doing it for 4 seasons straight.

When Hallman was fired: SEC games were still on Jefferson Pilot Sports. He was making, at best, a few hundred grand a year. Tiger Stadium sat 78,000 people. LSU had not won a championship in more than 35 years. A fan could get season tickets for a few hundred bucks. Fans weren't asked to pay athletes' salaries.

College Football wanted to become big business, so now it has to operate like a big business. You cannot compare then to now because there is an entirely different set of rules.

I am proud LSU did this. Once you know someone is not capable of doing the job with results you expect, it is time to move on. You cannot compare the different times, as much has changed at LSU since Hallmen’s days here. With NIL and portal turnarounds happen quicker. Also the direction was headed south due to Kelly’s decisions.

The man making $10M a year from LSU gave whose money exactly?

He was fired because he did not walk, talk and pretend to think like us.

This is equivalent to the average American worker donating $6,000 of their $60,000 annual salary.

Not even factoring in the scores of millions of dollars BK has already. He probably makes over a million dollars in interest annually just from his savings account.
