Woodward did Not run a top notch SEC athletic program top to bottom!

Basically middle of the pack at best across all sports. Plus he bombed out with BK and kept folks like Torina employed too long. I'm glad the much needed house cleaning is well underway. LSU needs to aim for championships in All Sports...both men's and women's! It was time for Scott & BK to go! Thanks to Governor Landry and the BOS for making it happen! Geaux Tigers!!!

It’s a good thing LSU did a thorough search for a new AD and president. Truly impressive search.

across all sports, who is better?

When you start posts with this kind of drivel, it diminishes the rest of the message, no matter how accurate.

What he did do was make my alma mater (not his) look incompetent on national TV for a week. Gotta give him props there.

Thanks for your input, Governor.
Impressed the Governor posts here.

I agree with your title. However this is where you are wrong.
Do people look at the financials they put out? August 2024 to July 2025 season is not out yet, but you can find Aug 2023-July 2024. I don’t think people do this enough.
Scott Woodward focused WAY too much on the bottom to top. In fact, more bottom than top. Only 2 sports make money at LSU: football and men’s bball. Yet, our men’s bball gets some of the least money comparable to other programs.
We are losing $8.5 mil on WBB. $7.5 mil on T&F, multi millions on men’s and women’s golf, etc etc. We didn’t even turn a profit last report because we are spending so damn much on coaches and travel. We used to make so much money we gave back to the university, now we are just hoping not to lose money

I hate the fact that the baseball and women's basketball team is not middle of the pack. I would love to see them there.

Gov. Landry the best governor ever ...BGE. The BOS is BBOSE...the best 'bored' of supervisors ever. We at LSU are really lucky BGE, BBOSE, the best president ever BPE, and we will soon have the best football head coach ever that will win the next 20 national championships back to back.

The volleyball team is still a joke. Plus what has swimming & tennis done lately? At least I haven't heard anyone on this board complaining lately about the soccer team's taking knees & wearing defund police shirts...
Don't forget that he allows the wrestling belt man to run around LSU facilities like he owns them.

So you hire one of the assistants to Woodward? One of the people responsible for not running a top notch sec program?

Re: LSUButt
This is a case where the money doesn’t tell the full story. I’ll speak for a sport like T&F. Cost is high bc naturally operating costs are higher, maybe? But when you look at the product when compared to the other top programs across the nation, we actually underspend. The top down approach is probably accurate for what needs to happen, we just have to do better at it. It’ll be an interesting thing to analyze moving forward. Cheers for bringing it up!

So we should hire the worst member of Woodward’s staff. Louisiana govenor is turning this into a clown show.

quote:That McMahons name rarely comes up tagged to Woodward is odd. Woodward only seems associated with BK failure and success of Mulkey and Johnson.
no mention of McMahon?
The implosion of the men’s basketball team never seems tagged to the sitting AD whom you could say missed more than he landed with coaching hires.
I am optimistic with Ausberry but not fully confident. I always find it interesting when change occurs and the succession paths - do you blow it up and reset or do you just keep going down the same path with the same people embedded in the system that created the issues. LSU clearly made a path choice with the Ausberry hire.

BK
Men’s b-ball
Aramark concessions
Softball
Volleyball
Etc.
Outside of Mulkey and Johnson, it has been a poor showing by Woodward both on the hiring side, and on the financial side.

Let's check the stats. Number of Nattys during Woodward's tenure:
Arkansas: 8, but ALL in Track/XC
Florida: 8 (6 T&F, M Golf, MBB)
LSU: 6 (FB, WBB, Gym, 2 BB, M T&F)
Georgia: 6 (W Tennis, W T&F, 2 FB, 2 W Equestrian(!))
Kentucky: 3 (W VB, Co-Ed Rifle(!!))
Texas: 3 (as a member of the SEC: M Swim, W Rowing, SB. If you want to count all titles over Woodward's tenure, add 11 more in M Golf, M T&F, M Swimming, M Tennis, W T&F, W Tennis, and W VB)
Oklahoma: 2 (as a member of the SEC: Gym, SB. If you want to count all their titles over Woodwards tenure, add 6 more Gym & SB)
Ole Miss: 2 (BB, W Golf)
South Carolina: 2 (WBB)
Texas A&M: 2 (M T&F, W Tennis)
Auburn: 2 (M Golf, W Equestrian)
Vanderbilt: 2 (BB, W Bowling)
Alabama: 1 (FB)
Miss St: 1 (BB)
Tennessee: 1 (BB)
Mizzou: 0
If you discount the track dominance of Arkansas and Florida and ignore Texas's non-SEC output, you could make the argument LSU had the most successful well-rounded program in the SEC.
