well this will put to bed all the posters saying "LSU will not wait for Lane".

So we're going to sit around and wait until mid to late January to know whether Kiffin is coming here or not? There is no way that is going to work from a PR standpoint with LSU fans. Needless to say that would also be terrible for recruiting.

Ole Miss boosters are backing up the Brinks truck to keep Kiffin as we speak. I don't see him leaving anyway. This is the best team he has ever had (although it is still not particularly great).

This would be a handshake deal in place beforehand. They wouldn't wait unless they knew for a fact that Lane was coming

You’d wait if you knew he (or someone else) was coming. You can’t wait to it’s uncertainly. It’s too damaging.

Lane must be telling LSU officials he wants the job behind closed doors or they wouldn t be waiting that long.

There's another side to this. Is the current LSU roster going to trust the search committee enough to forego their opportunity to enter the portal?

Our roster could be decimated with a limited number of incoming recruits and lots of transfers out of the program.
