Dillingham is fiery young guy. Heupel seems like a nervous nelly imo.

if those are your options you take Josh 10 times out of 10

Heupel is literally a slightly better Kiffin in terms of accomplishments. He’s won an orange bowl and already made the playoff in only 5 years as a HC inheriting a dumpster fire program.

I just feel with the elite athlete we have in LA Heupel could light it up. If he could link up with the right DC we could be dangerous.

It would allow continuity on the offensive side of the ball too.

I don’t know how anyone could be not excited about Heupel.
Played under Mike Leach.
Won a NC as a player. Coached and recruited essentially exclusively in modern SEC territory.
Look what he did with hendon hooker.
Also how he handled the nico situation and fall out.
Still is the primary playcaller.

Haven’t thought about this possibility before, but I don’t hate it. He definitely is a good coach and cares a lot, which would be a nice upgrade. He may have already hit his ceiling at Tennessee, as weird as that is to think… but they now haven’t been a real threat for 20+ years.

I would have never considered it a reasonable option except that supposedly the smoke is coming from the Tennessee side….

Another meaningless talking point

Give me Heupel. Everyone doubted him. All he does is win.

Their defense was excellent last year, carried the subpar QB play to the playoff. If we can get him I’d be very happy. Imagine LSU caliber receivers in that system.

They can't be sane and pick Dillingham over Heupel in a side-by-side resume comparison, so they have to throw out superlatives to justify their preference.
By the way, Kelvin Sheppard should also be preferred over Heupel because he has that dawg in him.

"Do I look like I give a ham,? Dillingham."

Seems like Tennessee has never been able to go from a good program to elite under Heupel. It almost gets there, but never finishes the season.

I really like Dillingham, but if we could get Heupel, that is a homerun hire. People are crazy to say otherwise.

Correct. He was there in 1999 and 2000. Mike Leach was his OC and QB coach for that 1999 season. Leach left for the Texas Tech HC gig a year later.

Not getting my hopes up on him...he graduated from ASU
