The Hancock Whitney Center used to be One Shell Square. It is one of the tallest buildings in New Orleans, along with Place St. Charles.

You'd have to be on drugs to finance a Class A building in New Orleans in the last sixty years or so. Population has declined since 1960. Big business has continuously left at every hurricane and flood cycle, which has been a nice cover for wanting to leave a poorly-run messy city. The middle class there is a handful of professors at vaiours universities and a lot of tourism types. Not exactly a hallmark of prosperity.

New Orleans issue was no room for expansion and growth, so businesses left. There is a glut of office space everywhere, no one wants or needs to be in an office building anymore. People are moving and want to live and work in the suburbs everywhere.

Also tried to pass trying under 18 as an adult for certain crimes. Louisiana residents voted against it.

I grew up in NOLA, you could see the decline in the 70's, started with Moon Landrieu, corrupt as hell and catering to the Black vote and making a lot of the Superdome services for black workers only. Then on to Dutch Morial- His qualifications? He's black! I heard commercials on the black radio stations, 'Let's elect a brother as mayor!". Went to shite more and more from there...you wonder if it can get any worse after LaToya the Destroyer, but you know it can and probably will! Banana Republic! New mayor? Oh, she's Hispanic, but all she is doing is putting the same crooks back into positions of power, nothing will change for the good!
