You need OM to miss the playoffs from a timing standpoint.
But that also means you want your coach to lose the most if not all the rest of his games and limp into your job.

This is why I don’t think it will happen.
You miss early signing. IF we have a bye OR make it to the quarterfinals and assuming we lose he would have one day before the portal opens.

No, you need him to make it having played an easy SEC schedule (outside of UGA), and then absolutely outclassed in the first round, then have to really ask himself how close he actually is to a championship there just being the “portal king”.
If he loses out and misses they probably just circle back to it being the rebuilding year most thought.

One thing that could work in the Lane sweepstakes’ favor is it Ole Miss is snubbed from the playoffs at 10-2. That is very possible with no ranked wins and potentially 5 of A&M, Alabama, UGA, Vanderbilt, Tennessee, and Texas being 10-2 or better. If there were ever an eye opener in brand differentiator this would show it to Lane.

This is the wrong outlook IMO. If you want the coach bad enough, you sacrifice one ESD. Not a huge deal these days with the portal.

Agreed 100%, but I can guarantee you there will be numbnuts on here saying hell Lane kiffin lost to South Carolina. We don't want him as a coach. Watch what I tell you if that happens but you are correct. You would want Ole Miss to lose out if that's who you want. If you don't then I guess it really doesn't matter
