re: REALITY check (team talent) in SEC

Pretty sure the majority of coaches flame out, no? Most of them also don’t start out as HC, no matter the level.

This is more difficult to come up with in the current CFB landscape.

re: Head coaching question

Most programs today have a roster management department in the NIL era. Depending on how well that’s run, I lean more into the mental side of the head coach (x’s/o’s) as well as motivational/demeanor.

Arch should be on this list imo.
Hardly. Arch was arguably the best QB in CFB the back half of the season last year.

This kid is a star. Multiple top 10 finishes in his first 15 tournaments and a Win already.

Too much talent disparity. Those days are over…
re: I actually really like Jon Sumrall a lot BUT
Posted by gatordmb89 on 7/23/26 at 11:19 am to theCAW
Golesh has been way less successful in comparison to Sumrall.
Jon has the right demeanor and attitude, now he needs to win football games. He has checked all the boxes before coaching a game. Ready to get the full picture.

I think Golesh will be better than recent Auburn coaches, like his offense. You’re probably a bit bullish on them this year though. He needs to recruit/portal well for another 2 years. We will see where it lands.

re: Chips are down: Will your team have any of 1k rusher/1k receiver/3.5k passer this season?

I can see Baugh going for 1k rushing.
re: "for the next 3 or 4 years" needs to disappear from recruit announcements
Posted by gatordmb89 on 7/14/26 at 8:00 pm to Rouge
These kids believe they will come in first or second year and start, most of them. Mostly because they are leaps and bounds better than the competition they are playing in HS. So some face a real shock coming in, then exit. Of course they “see” themselves at the one school for 3-4 years, but reality sets in quickly for most.

Similar to a Friday night Texas HS football game. The only thing tough about playing at Mizzou is the 11am start and cooler weather.

75” in Living Room and 100” in media room. If you’re debating between 2 sizes, always go bigger.

The players chose to exit. This is a contract dispute with those guys. It’s up to LSU if they WANT to bail them out. This isn’t an LSU issue.
Why is this a false narrative Ole Miss fans/media are pushing?

re: Offseason topic: UGA cheats
Posted by gatordmb89 on 7/14/26 at 7:25 pm to Demosthenian
I actually believe UGA was pretty clean until Kirby. Kirby is a win at all cost kind of baw and he learned from the best in Saban on how to handle things under the table. So my guess is he brought some of those practices to UGA pre-NIL.
I like Kirby’s attitude in a football coach, so not much criticism for him on my end. I hope Sumrall has a lot of that passion in him as well. After Billy, we need it badly.

Neyland too high. Probably 4th or 5th based on my experience.

It’s time to move on OM fans. Kiffin spurned both Ole Miss and Florida to go to LSU for one reason or another. Doesn’t matter anymore, yall have a new coach, time to forget about Lane and LSU.

re: Who will take the loss hardest?

Either way, it’s going to be glorious. I think LSU wins it. Ole Miss fans keep bringing up home field advantage, but Oxford is pretty mid as far as the in-game atmosphere.
