It was as good as I imagine that it could be for selection. Beef prices are high and no food stamp buyers means you can actually find a decent ribeye

Food stamp buyers aren't going to buy the higher cuts of meat. You should be able to get Ribeye, NY strip or T-bone any time.

My local grocery store has wagu TriTip for around $19.99lb year round. That is the best value in steak as far as I’m concerned.

Wal-marts use to have an end-cap on the frozen food section filled with 20lb boxes of crab legs set out for the EBT crowd.
Don't know if it's still that way. Someone can confirm.

I spend a lot on food and i rarely buy ribeyes when shits 12 a lb. No idea where the demand comes from. Maybe 1/10 times when i grab ground beef do i see anyone even looking at steaks. Dont get me wrong its delicious, but so are a lot of other things that cost less than half.
Maybe thats why im not a brokie

Food stamps should be regulated on what you can buy with them.....are they?

BS - not all but a segment receiving GOV benefits do just that. Open your eyes.

What, are they going to steal them or something?

I attended a dinner recently and they served an entree with a petite filet, 3 over cooked broccoli stalks, and a half filled twice baked potato. My choice after the dinner was go home hungry or stop at Canes on the way back home. You know I stopped.

I’ve never had a problem finding a good cut of meat.
Not sure what the problem is but I’m guessing it’s a you problem

Kroger regularly had bone-in ribeyes for 4.79 a pound as late as 2021.
Now - forget about it.
If cancelling SNAP could bring those prices back, i am all for it.

No, all the places I routinely found great steaks at a bearable price went dry last week. Prime ribeyes were up like $8/lb. Finally found some choice NY Strips at Sams but they were priced like prime used to be a few weeks earlier.

Last week a buddy of mine bought Halibut for our group cookout in Heber City, Utah. It was $30 per pound, but he negotiated it to $20 per pound. I had never seen someone negotiate with a grocery store, but this fricker did it.
