Why do people keep saying who would want to be the head coach at LSU given current events?

You would be a fool to think someone would not want to be the head coach of LSU football. You get paid millions per year with considerable amount of guaranteed money. You get paid to deal with this mess just like anyone else that has a job. Get out of here with no one would want to come coach here. You have huge booster support for coaches pay, recruiting money, and tons of in state talent. Every school administration is political. Some keep it private and some put it out in the open.

Because the Athletic and Yahoo sports writers are saying the job is worse now

Verge said they have full authority to pursue whoever they want and that Landry's political stuff about contracts will not contribute. We'll have a president on Tuesday.

Perhaps things aren't all THAT bad after all

Successful coaches are control freaks

LSU looks out of control and political.

Not that hard

Everything in this era comes back to politics.

This has now become political, so the media elite will take their snarky digs at Landry / Louisiana to show their progressive bona fides to their peers.

Fortunately we have a Pres and AD incoming and that will quiet the melts. And fortunately come Thanksgiving this will all be forgotten

To be clear, I think LSU can and will still get a good coach. However to add to that:

Coaches want (gasp) alignment in a program. LSU has no AD, the AD they will have isn't hiring this coach, they have no President, and the Governor says that all of the coach's agents need to be investigated and is against giving them a standard contract that all coaches get.

That isn't ideal circumstances for a lot of Coaches

Because people can’t handle transparency from the governors mansion. Say what you want. JBE did the same thing it was just behind closed doors not open for the public to see. I think the public has a right to know how things work.

These coaches at public universities know how things work. They aren’t even concerned with what the peasants are melting over. It was common knowledge in those circles. It’s comical the level of melt from people that have zero clue how things really work.

Other schools can offer this too.

That's kinda the point. Why would a coach want to deal with a governor publicly criticizing them and trying to get them fired whenever they do something that they don't agree with?

Only sissified liberals are saying that, most conservatives believe in earning their keep hard work and dedication and have morals. I guarantee you the coach that we get will not be a pussy like Kelly

Agree.

LSU is still a super attractive job but there are probably a few “home runs” that are more inclined to pass now (unless we wallet whip them).

Give me the right contract sure I’ll take the job. My job as a head coach is to win and that does not change based on who my boss would be.

You would be a fool to not realize the last 2 years of Orgeron, Kelly era, and the last week of events haven’t put LSU in the same realm of football hell with FSU, Auburn, Florida.

We had the entire sports media, current and ex coaches, opposing fans cheering LSU for firing Kelly and basically pumping LSU as THE destination… now it’s a clown show. You need to accept the fact that the top 10 candidates for this job will pass bc of Landry and firing SW. They will settle for Wilson after he keeps things organized to end the season.

this may very well be what they're putting out there but we all know that no Coach and/or Agent is reading this and making a decision.

If the governor would cease his public statements on LSU athletics AND Verge, et al would proceed professionally, any questions about LSU sports being in chaos would quickly disappear.

Yes, but his press conference rant and pat mcafee appearance was enough damage to run off any realistic top coach.

Because the great candidates have other options. Sure, we'll hire somebody for millions of dollars, but our 1st, 2nd, and 3rd choices are more likely to take their millions from another program in less disarray. If you're OK with that, fine.

Correct. All they had to do was watch Landry presser and appearance on Pat mcafee show, then SW resigning to make a decision.
