Sumrall probably cost himself the LSU and Auburn job last night

His team looked poorly coached and unprepared to play UTSA last night. They racked up a bunch of penalties , missing tackles, poor special teams play, never adjusted defensively for someone who’s seen as a defensive guru. That looked like a bad Brian Kelly performance His sideline body language did not give off the energy of someone ready for a big time sec job. The Billy Napier comparisons absolutely will gain more steam after that shitshow.

Not a chance. One game doesn’t ruin the work he’s put in at Tulane and his previous stops

Don’t know if they should or shouldn’t strongly consider him but if their opinion changes because of one game then they are doing it wrong.

According to Tulane fans tho they’ve looked this disjointed and undisciplined all season. They jus happened to pull off close wins tho outside of ole Miss

Auburn isn’t going to not hire him because of one game.

Auburn isn’t considering this guy. The people making the decision there will do what they always do, excepting the Harsin hire when one AD buddy jumped them and hired someone because they were enamored with the candidate’s wife’s tatas. They will only consider a former employee, or a horribly flawed POS that nobody else would hire.
They will first try to hire Petrino (2 for 2) then Lashlee (1 for 2). Both will be given the stipulation “you have to keep the current DC.” Neither will bite, and they’ll then panic and hire Muschamp.

He still changed the scene at Tulane and that ain’t easy.
I could see lsu going for him under the current regime

What? Have you never heard of Willie Fritz?

Good bc there's absolutely nothing special about his resume
Posted on 10/31/25 at 8:01 am to Cd104
He played at Kentucky and a grad. He will be the next Kentucky Coach.

Yeah and he left.

So let’s say you scratch Lane and Lanning off the list. Who on the hot board has a stellar resume ?

This wasn’t just one “ bad night game tho”. Admittedly I haven’t watched much Tulane football this season but Tulane fans who’ve posted on here and that I’ve talked too have said their team has looked sloppy all season and the 6-1 record was never a reflection of how well they’ve been playing

That’s because he’s the next LSU coach. He’s preparing for that job*

I’m a fan of the guy and think he would do well, but I’ll be damned if they didn’t look just like lsu last night. Poorly timed penalties. Dropped passes with open field in front. QB throwing off back foot. Costly turnovers. Couldn’t get off the field on 4th down.
His resume is good, but this may be a bigger step than he’s ready for.
Side note, but why isn’t anyone talking about Jeff Traylor? Is he just not leaving Texas?
