Brian Kelly’s contract was with the Board of LSU, it’s in the first paragraph, and LSU is a subdivision of the State. This makes the State liable for any debt.

Thus, putting the ultimate responsibility on the backs of Louisiana taxpayers.

As I stated, that is why public officials would be concerned with these contracts.

It's been a while since I’ve looked at this, but at one time I remember that the LSU coach's salary was paid mostly by the TAF. As a recall, there was a limit on how much Louisiana could pay as a state. I do remember looking at a list of the highest paid Louisiana government employees a while back. The LSU coach was always the top paid person in the state. But he was only receiving a couple hundred thousand from the State/LSU. The rest (millions) came from the TAF.

If that is still the case, then it’ll really be the big donors in the TIF who are doing the hiring. The TAF essentially have a veto power over the ultimate decision.

Agree with those on tRant that this should have been handled quietly.

I do agree also with him that the state shouldn’t be the guarantor of the contract however unlikely the scenario of having to pay it.

Woodward did a poor job with drawing this up and same with McMahon.

The state was paying Kelly $400,000 a year as a state employee. The remaining 9.6 million was paid by TAF.

This governor doesnt understand contracts and finances.

When he was first elected AG, he had never tried a case in a courtroom.

The Rant is full of leftist retards who don’t have a clue what’s going on besides that their boy and his cabal are about to be cleaned out so they’re mad. They’d rather have that bum be AD than actually have a top program at LSU.

There’s just zero chance LSU would do that because it would be suicide. And we know it hasn’t happened before. And it didn’t happen this time.

But the bigger indicator is Landry isn’t using that to say the state can’t be on the hook next time. He’s saying that because the state is on the hook, he gets to opine and have some control over the contract terms.

Sorry. I don’t want Landry or any governor being involved.

He has already damaged the search.

Is that in the contract? Since he only posted the first paragraph and signature page, there is no way to tell.

I'm with Landry on this.

Woodward spent a lot of money on a bad hire.

If donors didn't pony up the money LSU is still on the hook for that, meaning the state of Louisiana is on the hook for that.

And I didn't vote for Landry.
