Chicken tax prevents us from getting cheap trucks.

We can't get euro brand trucks either. The toyota and nissan trucks are made here.

About every third vehicle in Thailand outside of Bangkok is a Hilux.

Hopefully this still means a Hilux will get in the market over here. A dependable work truck for $15k would be a gamechanger

It won't unless:

- Chicken tax goes away
- EPA decides that EU emission standards are fine for this one vehicle
- DOT decides crash tests aren't necessary
- GM/Ford/Dodge have no lobbying power anymore

You can't get a new Hilux anywhere on the planet for anywhere near 15k usd.
