Might not be a bad thing if it doesn’t happen. I’d certainly be pleased if Kiffin was the hire, but I’d be lying if I said I didn’t have concerns whether or not it’s the right hire.

There’s other good coaches.

I don’t give a shite about winning the press conference and being excited Day1 of the hire. Day 1 doesn’t matter. It’s what happens on the field the next 1-5 years.

Carroll/Saban/Miles/Day/Smart/Dabo, while all very different hires in their own respect, certainly weren’t “sexy” headliner hires. Lot of championships in there though.

In more ways than one. Both great offensive minds who have yet to win the really big game.

Riley was the splash hire who everyone wanted, and I truly believe we fumbled him

Kiffin has ties with the current coaching staff and support staff, and one of the main players in this search, Austin Thomas, will be in his corner

Riley was the hot name… we probably avoided a landmine

Herman was a hot name … we definitely avoided a landmine

Fisher was a hot name … we probably avoided a landmine

Not saying the hot name of the year can’t turn in to good hires…. But it’s also not the end of the world if you miss on the headliner hot name of the year. Sometimes, arguably most times, it’s actually better if you do miss out.

I think LSU is better off with a defensive-minded coach anyway.

Not at all. Riley was afraid of the SEC. Kiffin is not.

I think you are right. Wherever he has won at comes with a gimmick. Ole Piss is perfect for that. LSU just needs a coach who can get talent and make the most out of its players. That’s it. OSU and Bamma are two prime examples of it. Heck throw in Georgia and LSU 2019.

Terrible comparison. Riley ran from the SEC. Kiffin ran towards it.

If the gimmick is being top 5 in the SEC in rushing then let’s continue the gimmick. This year is the only year we haven’t been and we’re seventh and have a chance to move up over the last 4 games

The average LSU fan, everybody.

Oh no! Wins with less talent! (What exactly is our “gimmick” btw)

Such profound insight and knowledge. Are you advocating for 3 yards and a cloud of dust? Is the gimmick you’re referring to the forward pass?

Either way, you’re not getting Lane. We’ll keep our “gimmicky” coach and you can keep doing less with more.

Difference is Kiffin has coached in the SEC for most of his career

Riley has never and has always had soft teams

Man, I would’ve bet my 403 that Herman would stomp arse anywhere. Especially Texas.

He wanted in 2021. That seemed like the time to do it. Not doing it then is probably going to come back and bite us in the arse.

Kiffin is a much better coach, Riley was at OU and couldn't finish it all in the Big 12 and were to the only program that really matters on the West coast and been a bust.

“ much better coach “ based on what ? Riley nearly beat Kirby smart in a playoff game and is one of the best offensive minds in the country just like kiffin. Unlike kiffin, Riley has coached in multiple playoff games. I like kiffin but acting like their a giant gap when their the same type of cosch is fricking delusional
