on one end of the spectrum, you have the dystopian take that AI will eventually gain the awareness and intelligence to take over humans. there’s a lot of ways that could play out, but worst case scenario, the human race is fighting for its survival.

on the other end of the spectrum, AI is overhyped and we’re actually closer to a tech end state than we realize. AI will have an impact on society, but not nearly as much as people have predicted. At the end of the day, humans value in-person human connection and society will correct itself from its current trajectory.

And then there’s everything in between.

Take an edible and discuss.

Either the AI bubble bursts and things continue as relatively normal with AI as just another tool. Or AI continues to spiral and remove human jobs for the sake of cost cutting, and in 50 years the country is a tech oligarchy with the vast majority of people surviving in pods on a meager UBI, with many people escaping reality by plugging into their own AI worlds a la The Matrix.

At some point, it will take too many jobs and finally be a real issue.

There has been several instances that have already happened that says otherwise.

There hasn't been, but you guys can keep believing the hype that makes the news.

The current generation of AI is more of a productive tool. Trained on sandboxed data

This is the right answer.

The monetary circle jerk between OpenAI, Nvidia and the FANGs will fail ... long before any dystopia ...

The market is driven by these companies and if they just flatten out the economy will crash.

100%

The worst part is that they all feed each other.

Nvidia will give $100 billion to OpenAI who then uses $100 billion to buy Nvidia chips, and all of these companies do it.

They are all intertwined.

The math behind their valuations makes zero sense.

It is like the Nifty 50 of the 1970s, but even more extreme.

When Microsoft Office and the internet became available it changed the way business was done. It made jobs easier, in some cases less people were needed to do certain jobs, it made doing business all around the world easier.

Right now, I think AI, with tools like GPT is the next leap from when the internet and tools like Microsoft office were introduced. Five years from now AI will be part of everyone's daily life.

In fact, I think what is going on with illegal immigrants and getting them out of the country is about something more. I think we will get to a point where.. Let's use a school for example. Everyone who is supposed to be at that school will be in a database, your face will be your access key to getting in. If you are not supposed to be there it will send a notification to someone on campus that an unapproved person is on campus.

At a sporting even. Your ticket will be your face. We will have some type of profile that when a ticket is bought you enter a database for that event which then will ID people who bought tickets. And part of being able to do all of this is you have to be an American citizen.

So illegal immigrants will not be allowed to do things that citizens are able to do.. I am not sure if I am explaining this the way I am thinking it I think AI takes things like that to a whole different level.

Doesn’t have to actually be aware.

Once humans start adopting it as the ultimate authority and allow it to make decisions it’s pretty much out of our hands.

There is no AI bubble. Super intelligence is on the horizon.

Eh…AI is on the horizon, but there is a bubble.

It is amazing how it is all one big money shuffle that inflates their stock value.

The current valuation of these companies makes no sense.

I read about the Nifty 50 of the 70s and it is eerily similar.

These companies are not valued based on production or sales.

The same views were prevalent during that crash.

I think you underestimate the problems super intelligence will solve. Not every stock ticker will get it right and some will be snuffed out by the ones that do, but a handful will be able to solve the world’s problems and a scary pace.
