What have you been hearing about this six part, twelve hour documentary?

I’ve yet to see a Burns documentary I didn’t enjoy or learn a good deal from.
As a conservative I’m smart enough to know the truth from the propaganda and I’ll enjoy the doc even if I don’t agree with the entire thing.
If I only consumed entertainment from artists I agreed with I’d tire of Lee Greenwood quickly.

The War has been my favorite. The best part was hearing from the veterans, their families and what they went through. Quentin Anderson, Sid Phillips, his sister, and the little girl whose family was interned by the Japanese on the Philippines were a few of the ones that stood out. I can’t remember if Ken Burns included some old interviews of E.B. Sledge or not since he passed away in 2001.

Oh jeez, I can't wait to hear about how slaves helped Washington and the Continental Army in the Siege of Yorktown.
You know this is going to be another pile of shi× from Burns.

The Ben Franklin piece really soured me on him. They tried to lean into the slavery aspect so hard but clearly there just wasn’t much meat on the bone.
One of the big controversies they hammered was that Franklin worked for a paper that ran advertisements for slaves.
ETA: high chance my wedding church is in this doc! Give me Liberty or give me Death!

This isn't entertainment. It's a historical documentary.

I’ve listened to a couple interviews KB has done leading up to this.
Sounds like it’s going to be a bit of we stole our government system from the Iroquois to appease the SJW masses.

I’m excited for this one
And it’s several parts to really flesh out like he did with the civil war/ww2/vietnam
His longer series are some of the better ones
Can’t wait to see who all he brings in as historians for the interviews

I'll definitely be watching this one. I got onto a KB kick a while back and bought up a good bit of his docs on DVD. I had never seen his most famous ones, so I figured I should correct that.
I am currently about 1/3 of the way through Civil War, and am enjoying it. Also finally finished Baseball earlier this year, and really enjoyed that one as well.

I quit watching historical re-makes a while back. They don't even try and get the history right. Zero effort on hiring legit consultants.

What does that have to with this thread though? KB doesn't do "historical remakes."

A new Ken Burns doc on one of my favorite history subjects? Hell yeah!
A lot of his other Docs get a lot of mentions in this thread, and rightly so. Civil War was probably his best IMO.
One that doesn't get mention, that I thoroughly enjoyed was the one on country music

I'd be shocked. Ken Burns loves America and is married to the truth. I don't think it'll be woke BS.

Everything Burns does is top notch so I'll be all over this

I know his Jazz and Country Music series came under fire for bias, but then the people they thought had the "true story" were either dead or unavailable for interviews.

Taking a wild guess that we gonna uncover that a trans-person with a custom green sandal-wood cock played key figure in the revolutionary war.

There was a lot of pressure on Burns at that time from those who think persons of color should be telling more of these stories as opposed to a white guy. I think Burns made some narrative compromises to keep them at bay, and to keep working. With that pressure perhaps less now, I am interested to see the result.
