I wonder if they are thinking a big time Offensive mind and keeping Baker?

Baker is above average and will get better every season.

And we keep most of the D staff as well.

Baker has trouble with mobile QBs. His refusal to use spys and lack of lane discipline in the pass rush has led to some significant losses the last two years. Any hire that keeps him will have to deal with these issues.

Nah, baker can coach linebackers if he wants to stay that bad, if not, hit the road. Overrated DC

Feel like you’d have a hard time talking someone into taking the job and not having control of their own staff. I’d really like to Keep Kyle Williams and Corey Raymond, but I feel like any new coach is gonna get to pick who he wants.

Whit Weeks was a big loss the last 2 weeks. He was the QB of the defense on the field. Perk failed miserably in that role.

I’m not sure retaining Baker or letting him go makes or breaks the next coach. But Baker isn’t what he’s all cracked up to be. He’s a LB coach who doesn’t really coach LBs that well and a defensive coordinator that can’t stop a QB Draw or Scramble.

Those are two really big bugaboos in today’s game.

Maybe it’s just me but when I watched Perk last night, I noticed a lot of plays where he either gave up on the play or just took himself out of position wether it was poor awareness or poor angle. But his body language also reeked. I love the kid but man maybe Bakers defense will be better off after he goes to the league.

Need an offensive mind but one that realizes games are won and lost in the trenches - OL and DL have to be a priority and deep.

Baker’s defense is pathetic, all SEC teams we’ve played this year have over 400 yards of Total offense. He’ll be gone soon enough too I hope.

Let’s see how the team reacts with Kelly gone, I think Kelly created a culture no one wanted to work for or play for. We will get to see our assistant coaches true abilities the rest of the season

I know Lane is a favorite here and he’s in my top 2 choices.

But one name I haven’t seen mentioned much is Sark. Why is that? Outside of the Arch crap, would he not be considered a good hire here?

They’ll need a big time offensive mind if they keep Baker. Lots of shootouts.

Lane with baker. Retain the 4 top 50 dline hs recruits coming in. We fix offense in 1 season with lane. He would clean house in the portal

Or you could do the same with Eli D if Lane says no

Why would you hire a coach and tell him who his d coordinator has to be?
