LSU is going to be at the forefront of moving CFB staffs to an NFL model. We no longer need a HC with HC experience. College HC duties will be greatly reduced. You just need to coach football.

We did a great job of setting up our front office last offseason. Austin Thomas, Sam Pettito, Kelvin Bolden and Jeff Martin are some of the best in the business to handle the NIL and off the field stuff. Let them do it.

Now we can go after a young coordinator who can call plays and lock down one side of the ball as HC. It'll be much cheaper and allow us to divert all that money to fund our roster. This is the new model.

Kiffin is going to be the most expensive coach this cycle. We will likely not be able to afford much more talent than what he has at OM after paying Kelly and Kiffin. Let UF, FSU, or Texas deal with that. There are young coordinators who are even more innovative that will take the job for much less.

Could not agree more. Treat it like the NFL. Go get Colin Klein or someone like him. You don’t need a Saban type program czar nowadays, it barely even works. You need an X’s and O’s guru on one side of the ball who is just generally smart and who can do some man management

It's funny to see you talk about what we can and can not afford after firing a coach with a 54 million dollar buyout, quit saying we can't afford this and that because you just dislike Lane, money clearly is not an issue.

Reports that came out today specifically said that if we have to pay BK the full $53M we will have a hard time funding NIL. Idk if they're true or not but it's what was reported today.

I'll also add to my OP that this model will allow us to potentially attract coordinators from the NFL. Just using Joe Brady as an easy example of a guy who didn't really want to deal with college recruiting: now you don't really have to as much

every swinging 4 incher thinks they can surf On3 and 247 and Rivals and be a better judge of talent than college football assistants and head coaches

what a joke

Names I've seen thrown around on here today that are interesting include Buster Faulkner, Mack Leftwich, and Colin Klein. I also threw out Todd Monken although I know he isn't quite the same as the others. Idk a ton about all these guys but this is the kind of search we need to conduct. The last search was lazy just looking at obvious big name coaches. The board needs to conduct extensive research and interviews to find these guys. I'm not saying it's easy to find the next Smart/Lanning/Day/McVay/O'Connell etc but that's what they get paid to do

I think the model needs to be more like a NFL team with a GM working with the HC to recruit (from HS and the Portal) and sign players NIL deals

Well these reports are dead wrong. My sauce saying 30 million max. More like in the low 20’s. Either way people saying LSU is broke and LSU can’t afford this or that were just proven dead wrong. So stop saying it. We have money.

I love this school of thought. Hope it’s correct. Go out and get an offensive whiz head coach and a great DC and let them focus on football and not running this behemoth of a program.

Kelly was pretty much a manager.

No thanks.
