This comes from Night Sky Prince he’s a SQE YouTuber that’s typically very plugged in with their going’s on.

He said they want to make all mainline finally fantasy titles playable on modern platforms and right now 13 13-2 and LR are the only ones that aren’t?

Would this be something that you guys would want or pick up? Personally I would u love the 13 trilogy and to this day have to still play them on PS3

I would buy. 13 was a fun time. Already looks good but if it’s coming to current gen console why not pretty it up a little more and take my money.

I still need to finish 13-2. Was really enjoying that game.

I’m like a mega FF fan lol and 13-2 imo is the most pure fun FF ever made. Note not the best or even close just most fun.

You should do Lightning Returns too. It’s like a fromsoft FF game a bit. If you do play they only have easy and normal at first play on easy the first time! Once you beat it hard unlocks

Unlike 13-2 and 13 to a lesser degree LR on steam is an amazing port with all DLC except Aeriths

Can't play FF11 on a modern console. I wish they would have finished the mobile port or figured out a way to release a single player version of that game.

My first time through 13 I was impatient so skipped all cutscenes and had no clue what was going on.

A second playthrough made it make much more sense.

I love the Pokémon like mechanic in 13-2 for your 3rd party member and actually build out move sets for them

It’s really cool in the coliseum dlc where you can fight lightning snow Gilgamesh Pupu Ultros Omega etc and get the crystals for all of them to add to your party. Commando lightning from the post game dlc is by far the best in the game though lol

LR on the other hand which I like a lot a lot is way different than 13 or 13-2. You just play as light in more or less real time combat with a bit ffx-2 costume switching of which you can have 3 equipped at once you rapidly move between each has 4 move slots

The running clock and day count can put people off LR but you have a ton of time and abilities you get to freeze time in day. I can take care of most of the game with 4 days to spare where I just farm soul seeds and better abilities since monsters drop higher level skills as you get later into the game.

I liked the first one. The linearity never bothered me. Hope was the worst thing about the game. The soundtrack is amazing and got me through some parts of the game that dragged. I have the other two on Steam but have never played them.

13-2 is one of the worst steam ports I’ve ever seen sadly. It’s tons of fun. You basically use sarah and a new male party member the whole game and catch monsters to fill out your paradigm and can adjust their stats and moves. It’s tons of fun and extremely non linear lol. They each get their own little crysterium

The LR steam ports is excellent but you’ll be spoiled majorly and confused as hell if you play it without 13-2

I beat the first one for the first time back around 2018 and the graphics still held up well. They were unbelievable when it released in 2010. Also really loved the music and didn’t mind the linearity. That being said, the characters sucked, I wasn’t a fan of the plot, and the battle system kinda got old after awhile. It’s basically one big “auto” battle. Not mad I played it but ultimately forgettable in the grand scheme of FFs

This was the killer for me. I played the original when it came out.

Lightning was just the simple protagonist. No harm there.

I liked Fang and Vanille.

Snow was just the overly macho trope.

Hope was a bastard child who should have been the main villain. He sucked and I wanted him to be erased from the story.

Hope is a lot better in 13-2 he is aged up to mid twenties.

All the 6 from 13 are mostly cameos other than adult hope.

You only have 2 human party members the whole game but fill out the third with a mechanic where when you kill monsters in battle they have a chance to drop a crystal and join your party and each has 1 of the 6 roles with their own little crystarium for moves and stuff. You can have 3 in your paradigm pack at a time and use them to fill out the third role for paradigms. Its great fun

You can also change party members in battle and it isnt game over if your controlled one dies in 13-2

I enjoyed the paradigm shift combat system. The overall combat was good but even basic battles just felt far more protracted than they needed to be. Still a very good series though, not taking away from it.

To me, peak Final Fantasy was FFX. The sphere grid system and the ability to customize every node, combined with "break limit" weapons and armor, meant you could turn every character into a literal god if you put in the work. It's hilarious watching Lulu's Onion Knight hit Nemesis or Penance for 99999 every time. I'd love to see FFX and X2 remastered but only if they kept the combat and development systems exactly the same, and I know they wouldn't. I've heard the devs talk about the potential of a third title to actually complete the story (perhaps Tidus/Yuna and Wakka/Lulu's kids?), but I'm not sure how it would be received without the accompaniment of a remake of X and X2.

It gets lost in the obscurity of polarization, but I'd LOVE to see a modern remake of FF8 but with a FF15 or FF16 type combat system. The strangeness and breadth of the overall story, to me, was enthralling. And there was so much potential to add to the backstory of many of the main and secondary characters but system memory and processing were much more limited than they are now. That game is the one that made me a diehard FF fan for life, and there's so much potential to reimagine it like they've done with 7 (hopefully with far less fricking mini-games).

Will this remaster get rid of the worst videogame character to ever exist, Hope? If not then no I will not be buying this. Although, I did like the gameplay and insane story in XIII-2 minus Hope.

I've love an 8 remake, it's my 3rd favorite FF game behind 9 and 6, but please stop trying to take away turn based FF. The 7 remake got turned into an action game so please leave the other turn based games alone.

I wonder if they make the first one at least less linear.... obviously it's a polarizing topic but people may be averse to revisiting the game unless they open it up somewhat.

I agree with the turn-based being superior. Only suggested action combat because that's probably the only way they'd consider doing it these days. Everyone wants action RPGs.

I'm personally a huge fan of strategy turn-based RPGs. Just finished replaying Octopath Traveler 2 and started another playthrough of Eiyuden Chronicle Hundred Heroes. Those are 100% my gaming bread and butter these days.

As an aside, I'm one of the weird ones who didn't really care much for FF9. I went all the way with it and even beat Ozma, but it just never really grabbed me like other FF titles. Not dogging it at all though, it's a great game. 6 though, that one stuck with me. Kefka made Sephiroth look like a choir boy.

I actually don’t mind the linearity of 13. It makes sense thematically with the story and once you reach chapter 11 the game opens up considerably. Doing all 64 missions and taking down the hardest bosses is a good challenge. I wonder how many people make it that far where it makes sense to bust characters into all roles. For instance Fang is one of the best synergist in the game, and is also a top tier ravager. Lightning is arguably the best sentinel and Snow is an amazing Sab for certain things.

In terms of my favorite FF they’d rank likely 10, 7, Tactics, 9, 6, then probably 13 and 16 are tied.

I still think Lightning Returns is a game people should play just for how different of a FF game it is. It’s probably got the hardest final boss in any mainline game. Which is why I highly recommend easy for the first run.

Along with 2 insanely difficult superbosses but you have to get to the 13th day to fight them

FF10 was linear as hell. FF9 was pretty damn linear too tbh

With 13, it was a combination of linearity, a confusing story, linear character progression, and a battle system that people either didn't mind or hated.

In retrospect, 13 was the last mainline game in the franchise that you really felt SquareEnix put effort into. 15 wasn't even supposed to be a mainline final fantasy game and the entire thing felt like you needed to read a wiki to understand what was going on. 16 at least told a coherent story, but everything else about it screamed being developed by the B team (the devs of FF14) while the big guns worked on the sequel to the FF7 remake.

I like 13 but the PC version sucks so I’d be down for this.
