I heard this on the radio today and was astounded, WTF is going on. We need to stop incentivizing having children out of wedlock.
This gives me the red arse
AI - Approximately 42 million people receive SNAP benefits in the U.S., which is about one in eight Americans. This includes 16 million children, 8 million seniors, and 4 million people with disabilities.

The correct reform is providing a sack of rice and a sack of beans monthly. And you get laughed at when you pick it up.

We’ve created a whole society of kept pets who also bite us

Absolutely, put the shame back in. We bust our asses to support millions who sit on theirs, with phuking attitude to boot.

That’s 1 in 8 Americans for those keeping score at home.

I'd bet only 5% of the people receiving them actually need them.

In 30 years it will be 1 in every 2. But that’s okay because it will be AI robots getting the redass.

I made the mistake of engaging with this fiasco on IG yesterday. Some lady posted basically stating how much lack of empathy there is regarding SNAP being paused. I questioned why hard working people who still struggle to provide should be expected to empathize with people who won’t work and feel entitled to the fruits of other’s labor. Never got an actual response to my question. Just got hit with you don’t care about others, you’re a piece of shite, blah blah blah.
A very unpleasant woman brought up some point of data claiming, “SNAP generated $1.83 of revenue for the surrounding community for every dollar spent of government funds.” Then she rattled off about the economic impact to the community without SNAP. Basically claiming how everything is dependent upon SNAP and without it everything falls apart. Has anyone here heard this talking point before and can you give your take on what they claim?

That’s high. Well below 1%.
SNAP is a way to funnel deficit Federal spending to Wal-Mart and Cargill.

SNAP was never intended to be a permanent hand out, but a hand up. It's the classic program filled with good intentions, and becoming held hostage by Politicians. I bet those Enlisted Service Members , who now have essentially been reduced to handouts and SNAP cards, would love to piss all over Democrat Politicians

Those numbers will get worse. People don’t save anymore.

So close to 1/3 shouldn’t be on it for more than short term help.

Do you have kids? Do you have any idea how much SNAP benefits people are eligible for? Obviously not if you think someone would have a kid just to get $350/month in food stamps. As if food is the only thing kids require.
