Dental care with patients on Medicaid

Stuff like this pisses me off, greatest country in the world and we can't make sure the children of this country have good dental care? Yet we can send billions to other countries in need every year.

Even though more than half of Alabama children are enrolled in Medicaid
that surprised me

Alabama has fewer dentists per capita than any other state except Arkansas
that didn't

It’s ridiculous how poorly dental plans of any carrier pay off.

Insurance companies exist to make money, not help people. The quicker you realize this the better off you will be.

Mama should buy toothpaste and floss instead of candy and Happy Meals. Did I do that right?

I hate that its true all jokes aside.

the outrageous foreign aid pisses me off as well.

I refused to go to any dentist that accepted Medicaid for the last two decades, because they are precisely the ones that push additional services to make it worth treating you.
But, even if you pay cash, for a kid it's $60 or so a visit. You have six months to save for that crushing burden. I can guarantee it's less than low income people spend on cigarettes, booze, Hulu, or a litany of other things in a month. That happens twice a year. Oh, the horror. Government should not be paying for it, period.

For a crown? What is 60 bucks? A cleaning maybe????

Medicaid dentists get paid per visit on many procedures regardless of how much work they perform. So, if a child has 5 cavities, some will only fill 1 cavity and set up 4 separate visits, thereby making good money and milking the system. There are other reasons for opting out of Medicaid.

FOR A KID. I understand reading is hard.
I don't give a flying F about adults. Brush your teeth, you need a crown when a 20 year old filling splits your tooth. I've paid under $250 for a crown, cash, too. So yeah.
There's this concept people might be aware of, is that the less you take care of yourself, and the older you get, your health and dental care costs more than it did when you were 25. This is a shocking revelation, which all Americans clearly don't see coming. Dental and vision are cheap AF. Delta Dental plans range from $13 to $50 a month for an adult. Again, if you have a jacked grill, you need to budget for it. H-E-B pays grocery pickers $18 an hour. It can be done.

Dental policies are not insurance, they are prepayment plans.

I'll say this, If medicaid parents had to pay even a little on their kids dental work, they would make the kids take a lot better care of their teeth.
Most of these parents DGAF how many sodas or if they ever brush their teeth.

You can cut out the government middle man. Figure out a way where you personally can pay the bill for a dozen poor kids. I bet your local AME Church can give you a list of kids.

What do you have against having your entire grill silver capped?

It wasn’t like this when I worked. If you did a 1-surface filling you got paid a set fee for that procedure. If you did a 2-surface filling you got paid for that procedure. I stopped seeing Medicaid patients because too many wouldn’t show up for their appointments (without the courtesy of calling to cancel). The fees were a little low but not terrible.

Fewer teeth, fewer dentists

Yeah it's bullshite how the govt sends billions in aid to corrupt countries but the American people can't even get 1% of that in aid after natural disaster like the Hawaii fires, West Coast fires or the floods of the South. All those three combined and couldn't even get 1% of aid that they love sending overseas. Of course though of those billions you know a good chunk is getting siphoned back into some of those politicians hands.
I'm not really a free health care kinda person but health care insurance needs a massive reform. It's just a scam right now. And with how corrupt our federal govt is, we absolutely could recook the books and basically have free health care. A lot of day would have to be cut but it could be done. But no politician would ever do such a thing as it would be suicide.

No one stopping you from paying for other people's dental care.
Why are you so fricking quick to spend other people’s money on people who have multiple kids they can’t fricking afford?

There is an old joke in that fact.
How do you know the toothbrush was invented and in Alabama….
Anywhere else it would have been a teethbrush.
