It's clear EBT is a systemic issue in this nation.

People on social media are going nuts that their gibs may be cut. It's been shocking to see the light shined on this and that this is the Dem party base.

I don't think anyone on PT is against the notion of helping the needy and poor, but it's the exact opposite happening. It's a crisis of obese welfare queens that feel entitled to endless handouts.

This will come to some type of head in the future.

I do believe POTUS Trump will not let this "crisis" go to waste. He will remind the EBT holders how democrat leaders love the leverage people going without food gives them.

This "let's make the dependent" mindset of the liberals is about to blow wide open and destroy their base.

It’s all theater. The politicians don’t have the balls to let food stamps run out. The chaos that would ensue would be epic . We’re talking some apocalyptic type shite. Personally I think we would be better off in the long run if it does happen.

It might be chaos at Wal-Mart and Piggly Wiggly. I feel confident they aren't breaking into my place to steal a loaf of bread or my debit card.

I remember when food stamps were ID-less paper coupons. You could buy them on the street for 40-50 cents on the dollar so they could buy smokes and booze with the cash.

For the last 5 years or so, I’ve gotten hooked on watching people hike the length of the Appalachian Trail from GA to ME. This year, I watched a 24 year old girl and her mother attempt the hike. They lived in North California and the mother went back home after 6 months. The daughter finished in about 7 months. Along the way, she talked about how much she loved Broadway plays, studied in Ireland for a semester, crushed the MCAT in preparation of med school, had several streaming services, etc etc. Along the way, she visited a friend in Manhattan a couple of times and did lots of fun stuff. She complained about the bad quality of east coast chai lattes in towns along the trail. After her hike was over, she said how mad she was because she expected 3 months’ of funds to be on her new EBT card but someone fraudulently spent the money.

I was glad to find out I’m funding a lifestyle I myself cannot afford.

So these people are claiming if they do not get "they food stamps" they gonna be stealing.

Where is the work ethic? Surely they know working or exerting energy for food is what every known creature in the world does, right?

Why they be exempt?

We're not opposed to it at all, short term. And not for people who have genuine disabilities and limitations that keep them from contributing to society. But it's a case by case basis because I know people who are paralyzed that still make damn good money without relying on welfare at all (when they EASILY could), and I know people who just flat refuse to work when they could easily get a job. I also know people that game both the US government and tribal governments to basically get all their bills and even vehicles paid for, and they work for unreported cash up to $2000 a week. It's fraud, but there's no checks in place to prevent it and review it.

Every welfare case should have hard limitations for people who are physically and mentally able to contribute to the economy. And to accomplish this, all we'd need to do is to assign case workers (say, 100 unemployed people per case worker) to keep open communication with people and refer them to unemployed agencies to help with placement. If they refuse a case worker, they lose their entitlements. If they keep coming back onto welfare programs multiple times because they can't or won't maintain a job, they also lose entitlements. Harsh problems require harsh solutions.

The safety net is just too fricking big and strong, so people don't fear the ramifications of not working. Make that safety net a true temporary solution that is just GONE once it's gone, and people will get a hell of a lot more serious about maintaining gainful employment. The alleviation of tax dollars going to these "entitlements" would more than offset the cost of the "Employment Case Workers".

The inbreeding on that one is strong. That underbite can cover an SUV in the driveway.
