First of all it is a hypothetical situation.

Considering the $57 million buyout and the amount of money we need for NIL to stay competitive.

For me I would wait till the 2028 season. That would be after the 7th season and at that the buyout goes to 9.5 * 3 = 28.5 million.

But going forward from this point forward, all coaches hired should have their coaching contracts tied to Kelly's contract. So we limit the buyout to just the head coach.

Before that I am afraid it does not make financial sense.

I have been a fan of Kelly but you cannot lose to Vandy and be competitive in this league.

The problem with Kelly starts with

[1] Coaching evaluations: Matt House as an DC set us back defensively. Sloan simply is not ready for the OC role. Blake Baker, Corey Raymond were on EdO's last staff that he let go, only to hire them back. Brad Davis is someone he retained and see the line play

[2] Lack of physical play: If we cannot pick up 2 yards against Vandy at the goal line shows a lack of physical play. The lack of a running game shows the same. The fact that Ole Miss was rushing 3 and winning the line of scrimage shows that as well.

[3] Strength and Conditioning: We have too many people getting hurt, playing hurt. This lacks strength and conditioning. Tony Moffit was better than who he has now.......again coaching evaluations.

[4] Notre Dame plays 2-4 ranked teams and year and you could be a finesse team and get away with it. Against the upper echelons of the SEC, that will not cut it.

If you are looking to do it after this season, you have to give it to Baker for 4-5 years.

Paying BK is a sunk cost, so you play him his 50+ and let him go.

You then double Baker’s salary with a 4-5 year deal with incentives. That is about 15 more.

Baker can keep most of the staff with some changes, that limits the changes to about 10+ more.

So about 75 all in. And you might catch lightning in a bottle with Baker. If not, you start over around the original timeline of BKs contract.

The Problem is going to be finding a new OC, especially if you are tying his contract to Kelly's

$57 million buyout

Ok I’ve seen $50 million buyout, $53 million buyout, and you say $57 million buyout. Which is it? Does anybody actually know the exact amount?

It doesn’t matter unless the money men feel the same as the fans. The good thing about rich folk is that they don’t like to be made an arse of. And they’re kind of petty. They threw loads of money at Kelly to get him here, and last year, they threw even more at Kelly to buy players, thinking surely Kelly can take us to the heights we all seek if he were given the players he wanted.

The fact that we’re probably staring down a 7-5 season in year 4, after finding the number 1 transfer class and losing damn near all production after the season. Kelly’s going to find himself in a really tight spot and rich folks are petty. People think that BK wouldn’t be worried about being shown the door because of the money.

In 35 years of coaching, the man has never been fired. It would eat at him. His legacy(probably the most important thing to him) would be severely tarnished.

It's impossible for anyone to comment intelligently on this without knowing the in's and out's of LSUs financial situation. Anyone saying otherwise (such as yourself) is just spewing bullshite

Can we at least see if Baker can contain a legit mobile QB before giving kim the keys to the kingdom?

If Marcel Reed runs wild, again, this weekend, I'd want no part of Baker as head coach.

That is not the number; it's 90% of his remaining compensation paid out monthly until the end of his contract period. So closer to 50 million than to 60.

Bama lost to Vandy last season. Mizzou took 2 OTs to beat them in Mizzou. This is not your dad's Vanderbilt. You need to pay attention.

That will probably limit you from getting top coordinators. All the other staff are relatively cheap, except for some big-name analysts you may have on staff. It is a competitive world for coaches worth their salt.

This is crazy. You aren't firing Kelly just to hire his DC who has had moderate success in his young career so far
