Can Blake Baker come up with a Scheme to stop a dual threat Qb?

Both loses we lost the game because we couldn’t stop the Qb from running the ball . You would think that CBB would’ve made some type of adjustments but I seen none vs Vandy . Also doesn’t help when you down 2 of your best defensive players but CBB has to do better .

In a word: no

And if he did, I don't think our guys would execute said "scheme"

I expect this one to get ugly

If he can, this weekend would be the time to unveil it. Because he hasn’t yet.

Shut down Sellers from USC. So there is hope. He hasn't been as good of a runner this year as he was last year though.

I mean - defense performed pretty good against Lagway and Sellers. Defending QB's like those 2 along with guys like Chambliss and Pavia are way different if you have to defend them for 88 plays versus 62 plays. Offense has to hold on to the ball instead of punting it right back to said dynamic dual threat QB - especially in the 4th quarter of games.

I think that was more a function of Sellers OLine being hot dogshit as opposed to any scheme BB came up with.

I think Whit being out really hurt us against vandy. He is a bit more disciplined in the middle.

Sellers is a big-body type. Speed isn't his best attribute. Shifty is what gets the Baker defense. Add to that the missing players and it spells disaster. Weeks is doubtful for this game.

We took bad angles, missed tackles, and Pavia made some ridiculous plays.

There were a few busts for big runs, but I think execution was a bigger problem than gameplan against Vandy.

Need to look at old Chavis film. Nobody schemed a mobile QB better. Would just contain and compress the pocket, but stay disciplined. Blitz a safety or corner in a disguised look occasionally, but the line and linebackers really just made a tight circle around the pocket.

ETA:

And Whit being out hurt us pretty badly I think.

Scheme isnt the problem when selfish players refuse to keep the discipline it takes on a rush and stay on the QBs outside shoulder. I saw this happen 4x at least agaist vandy and it cost LSU the game. Woodlands was the most egregious. This is a coaching issue, not a scheme issue. Well coached players are more disciplined and dont play hero ball.

But he deserves to be the Head Coach. We have an interesting fanbase.

Our defense really isn’t that great if we can’t adjust at half time.

But the answer is no.

Sellars - 19 yds 22 rushes
Pavia and Chambliss killed us on 3rd down more than anything

What I don't get is our porous defense last year more or less shut down Pavia. Yet we couldn't get any stops until the 4th quarter Saturday.

Schemes are only as good as the execution of those schemes.

If the inside rushers lose their gap integrity, the edges do not hold outside contain, and the linebackers commit too early and get caught up in traffic, the scheme is moot.

im sure he can but does he have the players to execute the plan? our most talented player can't tackle worth a crap and takes bad angles.
