stop voting by mail if you're republican. vote in person on election day.

These are not accidental. There is nothing the left won’t do to steal elections. Need to check back of post offices for xray machines. Since most ballots you darken in your selection it would not take much to figure out which candidate a person voted for.

Why would any municipality holding an election have ballot envelopes with little round holes that line up with a ballot selection?

This was covered on the CA ballot issue - the hole is right near the "X" for your signature. The claim was this was to aid sight impaired people find the right place to sign. But... that doesn't appear to be the case on the VA ballot, so yea, WTF?
Question the reasoning all you want, but that was an official response (on the CA ballot). I'm not sure how they could fill out the ballot if they can't find that big "X"?
But.... if they insist on that, they should 100% assure that no matter how the ballot is folded, that no info is shown. Basically, make a 'keep out' zone on each ballot section.
