if we lose 2-3 more games I think BK is 100% gone. Why?

1. Boosters are already done with him. Think they’ll offer to help financially invest in BK hiring a whole new offensive staff? What if Baker leaves too? Think they’ll invest in the portal like we need to?

2. People scream about the buyout yet Penn State, Florida and soon FSU have proven that isn’t an obstacle

3. The Buyout isn’t all at once. We may not have to pay it all.

Why? Because BK may take less to walk. 25 million to go play golf? Why not when the alternative is to stay where everyone hates you. Also there’s a very good chance we have dirty laundry on him that could help us negotiate a smaller buy out.

In the end it’s more expensive to keep a lame duck cosch, hire new staff and let the program continue to regress.

We can’t let Florida steal away coaches that would rather be here.

Maybe I just don't know business. Why would I take $25 million if I am owed $52ish million. I get the dirty laundry but this old dinosaur stubborn s.o.b would fight us to the death in legal crap if we don't pay him all his money

I just can't believe Woodward continues to escape mainstream criticism for this insane contract

If you were owed $52 million for 5 years of work, but your employer said you could have $25 million and do no work, you'd have to at least consider it, right?

Woodward needs to go. He should have no role in hiring the next HC.

But the contract says he gets the $52 million whether he works or not. So if the employer is trying to get rid of you, why would you take less?

You are thinking like a normal person, normal people don’t have the giga-egos required to get to a high level coaching gig

I tend to agree with Number 1. I would imagine the boosters are pretty much done with roster investment after this season pending a 4 or 5 loss season. If you keep him and make him switch out offensive coaches, that will cost ~$10 Million that could just go towards the buyout instead of kicking the can down the road.

Football is LSU’s cash cow and you simply cannot let it get past the point of no return. If it gets bad enough (which I think 7-5 qualifies), they will come up with the money. Heck, they may already have it. Who knows?

Someone on here posted something about an interesting loophole regarding BK’s buyout. No idea if it’s factual or not but it basically states that if a case can be made that BK can still get a job that pays say $4 million per year, then that amount can be applied toward reducing the buyout. Thought it was interesting even though that probably screams legal battle.

Because the employer is telling you he isn't getting rid of you for $52 million. He'd consider less if he hates it here and realizes this isn't the job he thought it was. I'm not saying any of this is likely, but the question was posed, and I gave a potential reason.

Someone needs to take over the hiring of his interns from within and hire the sluttiest, hottest, most scandalous no morals-having whore to be his intern and let nature do the rest.

On top of a $52M buyout, some of y’all aren’t comprehending the absurd optics of firing him or the difference from those other programs.

Brian Kelly at LSU:
-Overall: 34–13 (.72)
-This season: 5–2
-Two losses, both to Top 10 teams
- Combined margin: 12 points

I get the frustration, and I’m right there with you on needing changes at OC and OL first. But firing him now would be financially stupid and optically worse to any coach you want to bring in.

No new OL-men coming soon to bail us out.
So you would accept 7-5 this year? That’s what you are looking at.

I've heard these contract require that you have to take another similar job in the field and they are only paid the difference.

Haven't read this contract - but I'd assume it that is standard it would apply here.

Didn't the Penn St coach just take a job as a TV commentator?

$52 would be paid over 5 plus years, he could accept the lump sum of less immediately.

Doubtful it happens but Miles took the lump.

It’s like winning the lottery … take 50 million over 10 years or 24 million lump sum. Give me the lump sum.
