And has never made it to the CFP. Why would/should he be top of the list as a replacement for CBK??? Please explain.

who ever replaces Kelly, likely won't have made the playoffs

unless it is a G-5 coach that makes that spot

because he made Ole Miss relevant. Ole Miss has been better or at least on par with LSU in that span i'd argue. That shouldn't happen.

We would have a top offense and good QB play every year with Lane. I also like my HC to be directly involved and calling plays like Lane does

All he would need to do is make good defensive hires and we would be contenders every year. And it’s much easier to get a top DC to LSU than it is OM

He has Ole Miss in a better position than LSU with limited resources

well, it just expanded to 12 teams...before that, it was tough to make it to the 4-team playoff from the SEC if you had to go through Alabama and Georgia...

If he can beat OU this weekend, they likely make it as the rest of the schedule is very manageable.

Ole Miss is a perennial loser. Maybe not a celar dweller but not historically great.

He’s maxed out their potential

No one can explain the raging hardon some here have for Kiffin.

“Think what he can do with LSU’s resources” is the best answer I’ve seen and that’s exactly how we got stuck with Kelly.

If Kiffen were available, and we could afford him - AND if we could some how keep Baker then we'd have two of the best playcallers in CFB on either side of the ball.

Depending on Kiffen to come in and build a new staff, however, is a lot more dicey.

Personally, I'd rather see us bring in a hotshot offensive-minded coach if we're going to get rid of Kelly, then break the bank to keep Baker. Replace some of the offensive position coaches with people who can bring out hard-nosed play from the high-priced players we're paying on the roster. Maybe steal Moffit back from aTm.

If we need to explain this to you, then you’re too dumb to understand.

Lane is working with FAR less resources than BK and Ole Miss was in a FAR worse place than when he took over.

Let me dumb it down for you even more. BK does less with more. Lane does more with less.

He is at OM and has done pretty damn good competing in the best conference in CFB without the same resources as the elite SEC programs. Has done a hell of a job getting great talent to OM. I would love to have a younger coach that can relate more with the players. His players look to be having fun.

Whoever the coaches are that maximize limited talent / resources are who you want. Lane showed us 2 weeks ago how he can out scheme to a W, admitting they had to because lsu is better.

What game did Kelly's team ever "outscheme" defenses?

Even vandy had like 6 plays where we dont even have a body on a basic rb or qb gap assignment. How many plays does our rb catch the ball, or anyone, and have 5-10 yds between them and any player.... never.

Lane, Missouri hc, etc. Coaches that outperform the avg talent on their roster.

Give me Kelvin sheppard in a yr or 2, whenever we can afford the buyout, amd hes got 2-3, yrs as a DC in the nfl under his belt.

He has them in the top 15 and 10 every year when Ole Miss is only a better program in terms of resources than Vandy, Miss State, Kentucky, and maybe Missouri in the entire SEC.

I won’t explain. You obviously don’t know the difference between coaching at Ole Miss vs LSU.

Interesting question indeed. I believe the answer is there isn’t a reason. Two more questions:

How did he do as head coach at USC?

How and what did he do at UT?

What Lane Kiffin has done at Ole Miss is very impressive. Now questioning his constant ability to field a defense is well within play but what he has built at Ole Miss is pretty good.
