Things that would never cross your mind not doing yourself, but is a need to the younger, softer generation. Then they have the audacity to complain about finance.
Cable: cutting the cord ruined TV. Now you’re paying 3x as much for shite
Mowing grass: can’t understand why a man doesn’t want to manage his domain.
Changing oil: we used to respect our purchases
Christmas decor setup: lol
Holiday setup: there’s an a-hole on my street paying for someone to put a flag in his yard every national holiday.
Car wash subscription: have some pride in what you overpaid for.
Gutter cleaning: buy a f’ing ladder
Security systems: buy a f’ing gun
Pest control: a can of RAID cost $10. Use it
Handyman: learn and take care of your own stuff. YouTube is your friend.
Food delivery: how bout you go interact with the outside world. It’s cheaper and makes you a better person.

You don’t change your own oil

Funny story, he was gazing at a pic of Brett Favre's dick and accidentally posted it on the golf board

“Manage his domain” you are just oozing estrogen huh?

He was trying to put it in his “domain.”
Must manage his domain at all times

Cars are so overengineered now changing oil on most of them is damned near impossible

Professional landscaping is awesome, but you probably have a shitty 30x30 square, so it makes sense you’d do it yourself.

Younger people are soft. Fact.

I still do this, but i dont blame anyone that has to push their lawn and weedeat not wanting to.

I respect mine. I just find my time is more important doing other things than doing something i'd rather not do.

Do this myself, but don't really care if you pay someone to do it, as long as you aren't entered into the "Best decorations" contest in the neighborhood. That should be reserved for self decorators.

My time is more valuable than $20/month for unlimited washes.

Enjoy your bugs.

Depends on the job.

I pay the local Boy Scouts $40 annual to put the big American flag in yard on the 10 or so holidays.
I handle my lawn and other basic home stuff.

Most Boomers can't even change their oil, quit acting like your entire generation is super handy.

I actually live on 2 acres. There’s a pride satisfaction of taking care of your own shite.

In some subdivisions, you're not allowed to do it. But the hassle of hauling the oil to Wal-Mart, filling out the little log book, etc., is a PITA. I know, real men just dump it down the storm drain.
There's a simple formula an econ professor taught me a long time ago. Figure out the value of your time (all hours in a year divided by your annual pay). If what you're doing is costing you more time value than it would to have someone else do it, have someone else do it. I took great pride in my ironing skills. But it also didn't financially make sense for me to spend two hours on a Sunday ironing all the button down shirts I laundered. Much more efficient to outsource it.

Mowing the grass I get because it rocks, but pest control is a legit problem that I will HAPPILY pay a fee for, inflation be dammed.
My one sub that I guess would make me soft is my grocery delivery. Money well spent, every single time. I’ll die happy if I never have to set foot in the grocery store again.

Tell me about your time. Have a neighbor, working from home, paying for all these services…and was recently picked up on pedofile charges. A man needs to work and go to work. Our society is doomed if you think differently.
I’m sure getting together with your friends on a Friday or Saturday night would be just as prospective over Zoom. Right???
There’s a reason dating apps don’t work.
People need to interact in person. In every facet of life.

quote:I did this myself for my whole adulthood until this year. I enjoyed doing it and got satisfaction in drinking a beer after finishing on a Saturday afternoon, but it got to the point where I worked all week and then had to spend my weekend time doing yard work. Now that I have two kids, I’d rather spend it with them.
