I participated in a phone poll today

They asked mostly questions related to Kentucky politics, my opinion on the senate race to replace McConnell, my opinion on Massie(mostly negative,) Rand Paul(mostly positive) and Mitch(negative.)
They ended it by asking about my Trump opinion(very positive) and if I support him running for a third term (I don’t.) It was an interesting call because of the way things were phrased. Made me wonder if it was an independent poll or paid for by one of the candidates.
Do you guys ever participate in those?

Did you buy the extended warranty?

Screw Massie and Paul. Both are contrarians to keep themselves in the headlines. Both are to stuck in their ways to compromise getting anything actually accomplished.

I was polled twice back in the days of landline phones but I haven't had one of those in . . . 20 years or close to it. And one of those had very leading questions in favor of Dems.

I’d like to but haven’t had the chance. Of course they have to have a slant. Someone is paying them

Got one in 2003 about the Louisiana governor's race.
Asked my preference then said they would randomly choose a candidate and ask more questions. They picked Spa Boy, then presented both positive and negative facts.
Probably was really his campaign gauging his potential weaknesses.

I get them from time to time. If you answer the poll, you'll likely get poll calls more often as they buy/sell the frick out of the lists of callers who participate.

Just be aware that the GOPe routinely does push polling intended to drive awareness to establishment candidates.
The script starts with neutral questions they already know the answer to designed to make you think it’s Rasmussen or something.
“Are you a Republican” (they know you are).
Then it’s who are you voting for in the primary (establishment vs MAGA) candidate.
If you say MAGA candidate they will start in on push content like “did you know that Captain Barnes, who personally rescued all the puppies in Afghanistan has the recommendation of the Senate Leadership committee and wants to reduce taxes? Would this influence your preference?”
They do this for 4-5 pro establishment prompts and meanwhile they fund some third candidate who’s also pro-MAGA in some cases but isn’t well known and give them just enough money to split the 5-10% of primary vote from the main MAGA threat to push the election to the establishment pick.

Meh.
I got a text poll in 2019 asking if I liked Reeves, Waller, or Foster. I replied. Didn't get any other polls.

I haven't received one of those calls since Jimmy Carter was President. The poor survey taker got an earful from me about what an embarrassment to the United States he was. Fwiw, I was 12 at the time.

They’re always paid for by the candidates.

Once and it was fairly recent (summertime). Only reason I did it was because I was cutting grass when they called and I used it as a good excuse to stop cutting grass and get a beer.

I have had four text polls the past three months. This last one over the weekend was to see where I stand on Landry shutting down the carbon drilling. He is testing the wind.

If my phone labels it “political Call” i click it off without answering.
I figure they want money.
