What does LSU basketball have to do to get fan engagement?

Not just the obvious answer of win, what else can it do to build excitement? Missing the times of The General, but we need to move on and grow.

I have trouble maintaining interest after multiple seasons of this

Well that’s the only answer that matters.

They do need to win first - then worry about other ways to engage fans. Until they start winning, nothing else will help.

Threaten to move the team to San Antonio like another team in the state.

There’s no other answer. Nothing will matter until they start winning.

Play a certain way. Either be a tough, effort heavy team or score a lot of points. We do neither.

Obviously, win. Other than that, what we are currently missing is a coach who inspires fans to be committed. That’s what Brown and Wade had plenty of. It was easy to be engaged with them.
The other thing that is different is that we don’t have the opportunity to get to know players over the course of 3-4 years any more. Of course that’s not an LSU problem per se, but it is definitely a factor in how connected the fan as feels toward the team on the court.
Win and the other things at least mostly sort themselves out.

NEW COACHES
What has been allowed to take place over the last four years has been a travesty.

Aside from win?
Hire a coach with a exciting, inspiring personality.

This program has zero identity. People can get behind a fast paced, high scoring team or a gritty, tough as nails team, even if they’re not great. LSU men’s basketball just… exists

That’s kind of how Brady ingratiated himself to the fans early on when we were on probation. His teams were tough, very good on D and gave a ton of effort. Fans appreciate that and pay attention.

What does LSU basketball have to do to get fan engagement?
When you don’t have a built in inherently active fanbase, then steps need to be taken to create that fanbase. Skip did it in baseball by promoting the program, both Dale and Wade did it in basketball and the fanbase grew and was active.

Look at the women's program under Mulkey. Repeat that.

Matriculate victories and cease the obnoxious PIM. (Just like in Tiger Stadium) There's a fricking University sponsored Band sitting there to play music. There's no need for pre-recorded music in either the PMAC (PMORGUE recently) or Tiger Stadium. The overwhelming majority of LSU fans don't like it and don't want it in either venue!

- win enough to get ranked. LSU fans have never cared unless the team has a little number next to their name or has a super star on the team.
- market the hell out of the team. Have commercials, radio spots, anything. Local radio in BR doesn’t even talk about LSU basketball.
- honestly LSU basketball is to the point where they should just give away upper 300 level tickets to youth basketball teams in the area. For non-conference games they could easily set aside a few hundred tickets for players and families. Pick 2 or 3 schools per game and give away tickets. Pretty good chance that some will buy tickets to a future game or the kids will at least be interested in LSU bball. It’s much better than having full sections of empty seats.
- have some good giveaways that aren’t limited to the 1st 1000 people.
- team up with college bars and have drink specials before the game and have an LSU bus bring students to games
Anything to draw interest in the program would be better than what they are doing now, which is nothing at all.

Winning is the answer, but how about playing some decent teams at home OOC. Our schedule sucks OOC.
