BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - LSU Police arrested a man who accidentally shot himself in the thigh an hour before the LSU game Saturday.

It happened in front of thousands of people near the ROTC building on South Stadium Drive. Arrest documents show an LSU police officer heard a “loud pop.” That officer then noted a male, identified as Lawrence Hubbard, approached a DPS officer limping.

Multiple witnesses told investigators that Lawrence Hubbard was adjusting his pants and shot himself in he leg. A Glock 21 .45 caliber firearm was located on the ground nearby, according to an arrest report. Documents show Hubbard threw the weapon on the ground after he shot himself.

Reports note, the shooting happened one hour and 20 minutes before the LSU game as crowds had gathered for LSU’s homecoming game.

Hubbard was charged with illegal use of a weapon and carrying a weapon in a firearm free zone.

Later that evening, around 8:30 p.m., another shooting was reported on Highland Road between Dalrymple and West Chimes.

Investigators said two individuals, both who are not LSU students, were injured in a shooting. Both were transported to the hospital and are expected to survive.

Baton Rouge Police are investigating the second shooting. They haven’t released any information on possible suspects

He was just trying to show off his drill skills so ROTC would admit him to the program. I don’t know why yall love to hate on these young kings.

I'm sure he had a great holster that had zero trigger gap, wonder if he dropped a 320?

How is it physically possible to carry a firearm in a zone with signs that says "no firearms". Maybe some progs can tell us how this impossibility could ever happen.

An hour before is a little premature. Usually I don't feel like that until our offense has a few 3 and outs

Was no more than 10 feet way from this f ng a-hole when he shot himself.
Some people there were a tad bit angry at said a-hole. It was a miracle that the bullet didn't end up hitting someone standing around. It was packed when this took place. Maddening behavior.

Off to the side a little but yeah in core vicinity.. guess what building is next door to ROTC…

That's even worse than Chimes or the Law Center...far busier there an hour+ before the game.

People are so fricking stupid.
