Donald Trump’s threat to impose new 100pc tariffs on China has triggered one of the biggest cryptocurrency crashes in history and stoked fears of chaos in global markets next week.

Around $400bn (£300bn) was wiped off the value of the crypto market in a span of less than 24 hours after Mr Trump late on Friday promised to impose steep new levies on Chinese imports within weeks.

It is understood that the Bank of England is closely monitoring events in line with normal practice, ahead of what is expected to be a turbulent opening for Asian markets on Sunday night. The Bank declined to comment but City traders are on alert for panic selling, with futures markets already signalling steep falls of around 6pc.

Traders using borrowed money to bet on Bitcoin and other digital currencies lost a record $19bn on Friday night. The scale of the losses is more than double the next biggest single-day loss in 2021, when the market took an $8.5bn hit.

Degenerate crypto gamblers also used leverage to gamble even more... shocking!!!

Complete non-news story.

Paolo will print some fake tether bucks to stabilize this fake market.. He already did that night

Increases the cost of money, slows economic growth, and tends to reduce liquidity. All have a cooling effect on the markets/economies, and crypto can see it first.

People who trade on leverage deserve to be liquidated. Those who do not trade on leverage lost nothing unless they panic sold.

Lol suicide, crypto is the new standard for money laundering. Guy lost the wrong people's money with his leverage trades. Surprisingly drug dealers are not too happy when you lose their money

if you've banked straight cash in the same amount of your original investment, then you're playing with house money beyond that

Before crypto became a typical investment tool, it was supposed to be a hedge against this sort of reaction. Some people still promote the lie to this day

Institutions (Blackrock,GS, Tom Lee and etc.) has all bought billions and billions worth on this dip in the past 3 days.

Btc and eth ain't going anywhere.

The reload on the data centers (iren, cifr and etc.) after hours told the tale.

This is all market manipulation. Barron is about to become the wealthiest crypto holder in the world. Not because he is a genius.
