Braelin Moore..We lack details, execution. Can’t tell you why. And Nuss is “slinging it”

Doucet asked about what isn’t clicking in the rushing game…. “We lack details. We lack execution. I can’t tell you why that is. We’re trying to figure that out. We just have to focus in more” (Had to shake my head on that one)

“We sat down with the running backs and tight ends to see ways we can improve. Hone in on details, but getting healthy was big”

“Running the ball opens up the rest of the offense. With the inability to run the ball, teams are going to drop eight and it makes it hard for Nuss and the passing game to get going. As an O-Lineman, I take responsibility for that. That’s on us. We need to be better”

Asked about OLINE injuries…“It’s hard when you don’t get reps with a certain guy at guard or a certain guy at tackle, but we can’t make excuses. We have to go in there and fight. The person that goes in there has to know what they’re doing. When they’re in there, they have to go in there and fight”

“Make sure everyone is on the same page. Knowing the fundamentals and the technique used for the play. Because we’ve had people at tackle in fall camp and now they’re at guard and vice versa. Just learn the technique at each position”

About South Carolina…..”The strength of their defense is the front seven with a good front four. We just have to be very technique sound and hone in on what needs to be done and go do it. That’s the biggest thing. We could talk about it all we want, but we just got to go do it”

Doucet asked about the kind of week Garrett has had preparing for this game… “He’s had a great week. The bye week was crucial for him and a lot of guys to get a little healthier. He looks great. We just had a practice and he was slinging it out there. I’m excited for him”

Other tidbits here and there, but that’s a long enough breakdown.

Not great but I wouldn’t make much of that first answer. Probably hasn’t been interviewed much and he’s trying his best to coach speak it.

Like where his heart is at;

But I don’t think “try harder” is the answer.

Our guys aren’t worse than Tulane or Arkansas. It’s schematic.

Completely agree. Very concerning take from a kid who’s in the program and is supposed to be one of the most cerebral people on the team. It’s not about “getting healthy” or “trying harder" or "having OL/RB/TE meetings and trying to hash things out". That reads like a kid being manipulated by a shitty coaching staff that can't take responsibility for our awful team and wants to act like the kids just aren't executing well enough

So no team has ever won a championship without a mobile qb? Are you retarded.

They lack a mobile QB who is a run threat and makes running game easier.

Oh this bullshite again. We lack any semblance of a competent OL. Without that it doesn’t fricking matter who the QB is

You just see what you want to see there. Moore was brought in to be a leader for the OL and that’s what he’s doing. Leaders are accountable and take responsibility. He’s not making excuses. Coaching issues aside, multiple players across the OL have had execution mistakes, especially Davis and Thompson, and they don’t deserve a free pass for them any more than the staff does. Not at this point.

While we all know coaching plays a role here, you also have two guys in Moore and Adams playing well enough to be SEC starters. If everyone on the OL was executing at the same level they have (at least when relatively healthy), we would be able to run the ball. They aren’t perfect, but they’ve been good enough.

But two guys isn’t enough and at some point, the other players in the rotation have to be responsible for at least understanding as much as the two guys who are executing at an acceptable level.

3 in the box should equal at least 5-6 yards per carry for RB. Equals 10-12 yards per carry for QB.

How much is LSU paying this coaching staff? And the fact that he’s saying this right now means they likely still haven’t fixed it lmao

It's schematic and IMHO compounded by a mediocre at best position coach at o-line, bad combo.

There is no conviction from the 0-line, no aggressiveness because I don't think they know what to do - they are passive and hesitant.

They say in pre-season one-on-one drills they fared very well against the defense, and when we've lined up under center for sneaks and all they have to do is fire off the ball they've pushed teams back - like Clemson.

But when they line up in the designed run schemes they seem lost - that's scheme or coaching or both, not talent.

That only works if you call more than 2 run plays in half a game...

But they aren’t executing well enough. He’s right.

Everyone wants to point at the “scheme” bogeyman but that’s an oversimplification. We didn’t commit to the running game enough against Ole Miss but that doesn’t justify our 2.6 yards per carry against the worst rushing defense in the SEC.

We have a failure of the players to execute consistently with sound technique. We have a failure of the position coach(es) to effectively correct those mistakes. And then you get to the failure of the coordinator to effectively scheme around those weaknesses. But scheming around it is a band aid.

The players on the field need to execute better so that our offense doesn’t have to be pigeonholed into perimeter runs and behind-the-LOS passes as a substitute. And the coaching staff needs to identify and correct those execution errors.

Braelin Moore’s job as a leader on the OL isn’t to say “the OC isn’t doing a good enough job scheming around the guys who suck.” It’s to make sure the guys who have sucked get better moving forward.
