And designated it a "critics pick". Pretty much a rave review with some minor quibbles.

Here's a link that hopefully gets past paywall.

What point are you trying to make here?

You end up getting numerous courses. Have you ever been to a high end restaurant before?

Like your penis, it's a tasting menu. It's all small portions

Tejal is perhaps the best writer on food the NYT. Great review and more impressive/indicative of what is going on at Emeril’s than whatever Michelin bestows. To wit, recently NYT gave Alinea 2 stars and noted how it seems stuck in the past at only 20 years old.

Too shiny, but I'll bite.

Last time I did the tasting menu at Emeril's, I was overly full.

What does everyone think of Emeril’s other place, 34 Restaurant and Bar? I’ve been a couple of times and liked it, but both times there weren’t a lot of people in there.

I get his point.

There’s certainly a market for restaurants that serve numerous mini courses, with a bite sized morsel centered on a giant, oversized plate, using a pair of tweezers to center the morsel perfectly.

I’m good for that only for a special occasion, maybe once every 15 years. To me it’s pretentious and over the top, and a huge waste of money to spend $500+ for two meals.

But people are willing to pay for it, and that’s all that counts.

I haven't been to the new Emeril's since EJ took over, and probably never will make it down there, but from what I have seen and read, what they have done is really impressive. Emeril/E.J. have successfully reimagined, and arguably elevated, an iconic restaurant from what it was to something new. Just successfully changing the food and service to positive reviews would be an achievement, but they appear to have done so without alienating their current/previous customer base. This is all based on what I've read, so the reality on the ground may be very different, but so far this seems to have been a successful transition. I like Emeril and I really hope they have continued success.

I'd wager one star in the first go-round. Two after some refinement.

Emeril's was one of my favorite places to eat. Are at least once a year. But haven't been to the new concept. I need an excuse to spend $500 on a dinner date.

Nola needs at least one 2 star. No 3. They can go up. Dakaar and some others will get 1 as well.

Given that the same thing was often said about Emeril at Commander's, it's an awesome story.
