Emeril/E.J. have successfully reimagined, and arguably elevated, an iconic restaurant from what it was to something new.
Given that the same thing was often said about Emeril at Commander's, it's an awesome story.
The website hasn’t been updated in months now, which is sad
Co-sign on Pizza Rock. It's fantastic.

Saginaw's Deli in the new Circa is really really good too. I went once for breakfast when I was there last summer and ended up going back the next day (and one lunch as well). Very good pastrami and a perfect fried baloney sandwich.
unclebuck504 - you're my people. I'll definitely be doing lap king cake(s) for the family and coworkers. Patton's hot is a good idea and thank you for reminding me about Steen's.

I'll have the option for a second suitcase too... may have to think about this.

I'll be down in New Orleans at the end of the month for work. I live in the midwest so there's tons of stuff for sale in any regular Nola grocery that I otherwise can't get. My hotel has a freezer I can store things overnight, so I can stock up and things will be fine for the plane ride home.

I already know I'll be grabbing Best Stop boudin and tasso, a few pounds of LA crawfish, and pickled pork. After that, it's a bit of a crapshoot. What else should I grab from the aisles or freezer section? Seasonings, dressings, local products doing retail are the priorities.

Most likely I'll hit that CBD Rouses, but if there's better offerings at the Rouses on Tchoup or Breaux Mart, I'll happily swing up. My goal is to have my luggage at 49.9 lbs when I check back in.

Frozen pizza just kind of is what it is imo. Any baked goods are going to decrease in quality by the time they arrive. I've been gifted a few cards similar to you. I've had success with big cuts of meat (Momofuku bo ssam, Katz's pastrami, Kreuz Market jalapeno cheese hot links).

Lou's will travel better because it's a damn pie.

I've done Sitka Salmon Shares for several years now. It's very high quality product. The only downside is that they really fish, so you're at the whim of the season. Last year was a ton of sablefish and not nearly as much salmon as in the past. We still got a decent amount of king, plenty of halibut, a month of dungeness, spot prawns, and awesome pacific cod. If you have the $ and a drop freezer it's worth it.
There's a decent volume of allocated bottles dropped weekly, but the demand is higher and the locals are highly educated to the rules of the game. If you're not in the right place in the right time you'll never see most of those weekly drops.

Liquor Barn has a massive selection of store picks that have been winners for me every time. Justin's is great if you're ready to spend for whales. Try Liqour Barn around noon on Friday though.

Swift & Sons, Bavette's, Maple & Ash.

I'd have no problem with anyone picking any of these three. I've had some consistency issues at Swift & Sons. Maple & Ash is a little too clubby for me. Bavettes has the best balance of food and atmosphere imo. I wouldn't be mad going to any of them though.
I live in Chicago and can confirm Bavette's is the answer.

If you have enough people get a seafood tower and/or a cheeseburger to split as an appetizer. Even if you don't have enough people get the creamed spinach, elote corn and chocolate cream pie. Corkage is free on a bottle of wine if you share a glass with another table in the dining room.
Fans flying across the country at great expense - especially when your team has been mediocre for a while at best - are going to see things on the sunny side.

We *do* have a chance, but it's a puncher's chance. We aren't bereft of talent in all positions, but to win against a team like LSU on the road at night? We'll need big plays, turnovers, people to play at a level we haven't seen before, maybe even injuries. In short we'll need to catch breaks. If we played this game 20 times I'd say we win 1 or 2. That's still a chance.

If they showed a slip betting $1000 on UW to win straight up, then you can say they're insane.

Oh, and the plural is 'huskies' but the singular is 'husky'. You talked to Husky fans today.

The UW stadium is definitely loud. It's a different kind of loud though. When they do the GOOOOO.....HUSKIES chant back and forth, it's freakin loud for sure. But at TS, it's just a roar that doesn't go away.

I promise to come back next week and discuss. I'm looking forward to seeing you guys bring it.
So LSU will win but there's a chance it won't be a blowout? Don't go too far out on a limb there.

Line communication is the biggest factor.

This is what scares me since we already have injury issues there after week one. A new guy clocking in in this environment you pretty much have to expect a penalty or two on him.
quote:

Loudest stadium? Your fans dont yell when ur on offense. Why would that matter if ur stadoum is loud?Try playing in the swamp or in bryant denny or jordan hair or neyland. Yeah thats what i thought.

All I'm saying is that fans yelling at an opposing team is not a strictly SEC phenomenon.

And "Jordan Hair"? Really? Winning helps everything but I've never heard of it being a particularly loud joint. Do they attach noisemakers to their pom-poms now?

Didn't make it to the game, but I'll go with it.

We get loud. LINK

Our last few years haven't been *as* good noise wise due to mediocrity (or worse) but if/when we turn the corner you'll be seeing the cameras shaking on TV again.
We have actually always had the loudest stadium in our conference. But the man's point (that we're aware it's going to be a loud, wild, hostile environment, so get ready to use hand signals all night) is still fair. Interpret it as an insult if you need to, but do you really think when he said they 'know what Tiger Stadium is all about' that they meant that in a bad way?
Eh, if you read the rest of the quote he's giving proper respect. If you need that to motivate you, so be it.

Frankly, I'm more offended that the blog writer put the Colliseum in the same breath as Tiger Stadium and Autzen.

As long as you don't come looking for trouble

I'd be really surprised if any of our fans come with that kind of mindset. Our home game have knuckleheads like any fanbase, but we have a pretty good traveling reputation, especially for non-conference games like this. I'm looking for cold beer, hot food, and fun conversation about a mutual disgust for Alabama and Oregon. Shouldn't be too hard to come by.

Sadly I'm coming from DC. When I was in Nola earlier in the summer it was actually cooler and less muggy in Louisiana.

I'm glad you had such a good time when you visited though. We can't hang with you guys on pure insanity and numbers, but we do a pretty unique thing up in our neck of the woods, and if you aren't a Duck/Coug/Trojan we'll treat you well.
