Not one thing in my life has been affected, so I'm struggling to be empathetic. Can some of you tell me exactly how shutting down the government is hurting anybody?

It's not like anyone is locking the door to keep you out. Just think you don't have to waste time to get some stupid hiking permit.

Not sure about Yellowstone services but the Utah NPs were gonna stay open with all services as long as they can.

Pinehurst and two airports were open. That's all I really needed up to now, so I'm ok for now.

Don’t be a victim. Be a victor! And yes. That will require you to leave the Dems behind.

Only thing I have noticed is that there was no fly over at the game on Saturday.

I know it doesn’t affect you. But in my current situation, I work as active duty at a reserve squadron and the reservists are not funded to come in and we lost quite a bit of funding for flight hours to train our young guys in the air. We lose our simulators at the end of the month. So reduced manning and not being able to train kinda sucks when we are prepping for things to come in a couple years.

Democrats will claim the bears went back into hibernation because they’re afraid of ICE.

The company my wife works for manages apartments...a lot of them. They have had a few calls from people, who work for the government, asking about what they (the company) are going to do about the rent since they won't be getting paid.

I laughed at first but then realized these people were serious.

My answer to her was evict them. If grown arse adults don't even have enough in savings to cover 1 months rent then they are to irresponsible to work in government.

I did tell her that eventually they will all get back pay anyway but...you know...evict them anyway.

"federal workers begin to miss pay on Oct. 10 and the military goes without a paycheck on Oct. 15."

there's the window for all the idiots to suddenly find common ground. otherwise, what we need is an ACTUAL shutdown.

Active duty miliary, federal law enforcement, prison system, tsa air traffic controllers, border patrol, customs.

actually shut all of it down, actually have it ALL stop functioning and let's see how quick these idiots get together.

It’s catastrophic.

I have my first research contract with the government that started 9/30. I was supposed to get an initial payment at the start of the project to cover the initial purchases, but they shut down before they paid me. The contract timelines remain unchanged, so I'm just having to make the purchases and live off of credit cards until they reopen.
