Another Mt Everest disaster?

Might have another Everest disaster occurring - reports of a blizzard hitting the mountain with hundreds of climbers stranded.
Haven’t found any real clear reports.
Haven’t found any real clear reports.

That's terrible but I think it's safe to say there's a lot of inherent risk to climbing Everest.

Climbing high mountains with limited safety options is entirely an optional decision

I saw something that said 1,000. Sending in rescue is foolish. Why put others at risk.

Seems like 300-400 have made it down. But that’s still a whole lot of people stuck on that mountain.

Very unfortunate, but I would think a blizzard hits Everest multiple times in a year if not in a month? Seems like it’s not that odd of an occurrence but that’s me

I didn't realize there were ever that many climbing on the mountain at any given time.

Screw that! Climb it in the winter when there’s hardly no one else around.

Damn... that's some Disney line shite. No thank you.

I'm sure there was a thread on it already but I thought it was going to be an offshoot of this that happened in China. Dude tries to take selfie, falls off mountain, dies.

articles aren't great but I don't think these are climbers in the sense we usually use that term. I think these are mostly trekkers/hikers/backpackers just strolling around the lower areas around Everest as opposed to mountaineers trying to get to the top.

These aren't people trying to summit Everest. The season for that is March - June.
These are Chinese tourists on a holiday weekend outing. They're at around 16K feet, which is well short of the summit, at what they call a "tourist" camp.

Correct. These are weekenders. Not professionals.

I wonder if you pay thousands of dollars for the fast pass.

Well, I guess this way you can say "I climbed on Mount Everest" and you wouldn't be lying, like I tell people I sprained by ankle at the 2000 Olympics (in the parking lot) and played football at LSU (flag football on the parade grounds). It's just how you word it.

That is the line for the Christmas ornaments and fridge magnets.
