Does LSU have any kind of mental health support for athletes?

If not, looks like a good idea.
Next question, if an athlete is making big time bucks, shouldn’t part of his compensation be a retainer for an attorney?
How different would Kyren’s treatment would have been if the locals and LSP knew he had a lawyer on the leash?
Something I learned in Army Suicide Prevention over 20 years ago:
Suicide is a permanent solution to a temporary problem.

I’m sure there is. This needs to be a major point of emphasis throughout the entire campus these days. We all see signs. There were probably signs with Kyren, I believe his family said as much. I’m wondering if LSU distanced themselves once news hit?
I’m curious, because I think anybody willing to take their own life has some mental health issues, if he had demonstrated some tendencies prior to the accident. Another question…when an athlete transfers, does this info get passed along?

Universities typically have it for everyone.
Was Lacy still a student?

I would think FERPA and HIPPA laws would prohibit mental health records from being disclosed by the school without consent.

I agree about the disclosure issues, my concern is that an athlete knows that help is available and that they aren’t alone.

Yes as well as for former athletes

He graduated in December 2024.

There are sports psychologists.
This wouldn't have applied to Lacy as he wasn't a student athlete at or near the time of the accident. He had graduated.

Arik Gilbert was doing well enough until he transferred out.

Everyone acts like it’s easy to get help and everyone wants to be there after the fact.
It sucks but it’s true. Nobody really cares until after the fact. So that’s what the individual sees. No one caring. And in this case some even chastising. “Nobody wants to really help me or be there for me” is what they see. It’s a horrible thing. It’s the way the world is seen from their eyes.
Kyren Lacy will unfortunately be forgotten by most. And not even acknowledged to begin with by some. More than you think. Just have to hope there’s a god and he’s at peace.
Sorry, not trying to get dark up in here, but mental health sickness is a bitch.

Open discussion about mental health is needed I’m sorry that sometimes a tragedy is what prompts the conversation

The football players get the best support in every way whether academic, physical health or mental health. Even with mental health support it can still be challenging fighting whatever demons a person is dealing with. It is no different than someone with cancer. Treatment may help or treatment may fail.

I think the problem is that there’s a stigma attached to this, especially among male athletes. They don’t want to look “weak” and don’t seek help until it’s too late

The mental health facility, for all athletes, is located in Bogies.

They do. I think someone is at the facility (not certain) and they have contractors around BR the players can go see.
