Cutting him provides no cap savings next year. It’ll actually cost $3M to let him go. Great cap management as usual from Mickey

Let him backup the guards and the center.

It would be a shame if something happened to him before the season started.

we either june 1st cut him next year and get 7 million relief or we hold onto him as a roster spot and then cut him following year.

eta: please post more informed shite when you're going to start a vagina bleeding thread.

Will be the highest paid backup center in the league.

Honestly, if I’m a gm, and needed a center, I’d trade something for him. He played center ok. Has to be something we could get off another team we could use.

True dat. Like tell us all where it is that tree of contracts which only has the fruit of players that never disappoint. Let's hope our oline becomes so good backup lineman is coveted and thats where he sits.

What your going to see is him starting. BC what they are paying him.
They probably would rather have Simpkins as a backup for Guard/Center

But you're missing the key point; he'll never call for Mickey Loomis to be fired.

I think some of the contracts given are for 2 reasons; so the drafting doesn't look so bad (See! He's still on the team! We even extended him!) and so the players hope to get a ton of money and don't try to get Loomis fired by complaining.

Would have to be a desperate GM. He has a base salary of $9.5M in 2026 ($2.7M guaranteed) & 2027. At that base salary, he would be the 7th highest paid center in 2026 & 5th highest paid center in 2027

Usually the team trading the underperforming player eats a big chunk of the salary.

I said this in another thread about Huff. Philly ate alot of his guaranteed salary to move him and get a pick back. We coulda made that trade and paid him half of what Young is making and got a comp pick for letting Young walk.

But, then you have a major cap hit the next year.

You've gotta take your medicine so that it's free in 2027.

Whether he's on the roster or not next year, he's a waste of 17M
