When was the last time you saw someone using a clothesline to dry clothes?

I remember as a kid many homes in the neighborhood with clotheslines in the back yards and clothes hanging in the sun and blowing in the wind. I don’t think I’ve even seen a back yard with the hangers anymore much less with a line across and clothes hanging.

A lot of people still do that in Chinatown in San Francisco. Mostly in upper floor apartments above the first-floor stores/restaurants. You see them hanging on the balconies.

I hung my clothes on a line last week. Stayed in a country where they don't have dryers.

Last Thursday, my back yard.
On bright sunny days, most cottons and poly clothes and sheets dry faster on a clothes line than a dryer. Jeans and towels last longer line dried than being tossed by a dryer, and dryers don't destroy buttons and elastic.

I always hang my hunting clothes outside after washing them. I have a “makeshift” clothes line that is easily set up…

A few days ago. My husband likes the way his clothes feel when they dry on a clothesline.

We had one growing up and whenever the dryer went out we pivoted immediately and never missed a beat.

Best smelling clothes ever!

I still dry the occasional shirt outside.

This summer. Mother uses one quite often, esp in the summer.

Haven't hung clothes on a line in decades but sure remember the fresh smell of sheets and pillowcases that were dried on a line.

Towels tended to dry a little stiff and felt like they could take some skin off if used too aggressively.

Jeans and Khakis were hung on the line after the metal crease makers were shoved down the legs and expanded to form the crease in them. They tended to dry a bit stiff too.

I do have a neighbor behind me that still has a clothesline in the back yard and they will sometimes hang stuff to dry.

damn Carol are you my wife?

I love how my shirts feel. Almost a starchy type of feel. Love it.
