Took a road trip today. Here were my stops:
1. Champagne's Bakery (Breaux Bridge) - "famous" pink cookies & sweet dough pies
2. Poche's (Breaux Bridge) - boudin, sweet dough pies
3. Harps Grocery (Sunset) - boudin wasn't ready yet, so I left empty-handed
4. Rod's Thrifty Mart (Church Point) - smoked sausage (2 varieties)
5. Love Bonez (Eunice) - "New Orleans Lady" breakfast sandwich, "lunch lady squares" (breakfast pizza), barnyard biscuits (biscuits w/ sausage gravy, bacon, & green onions)
6. Big Poppa's (Chatagnier) - smoked ponce
7. Guillory's Meat Market (Pine Prairie) - stuffed Boston Butt roast, boudin
8. Tom's Fried Chicken (Bayou Chicot) - fried chicken, onion rings, "Swamp burger" (burger w/ shrimp & jalapenos)
9. Paul's Meat Market (Ville Platte) - boudin, smoked jalapeno cheese sausage, stuffed cabbage rolls
10. Queb's Country Store (Plaisance) - smothered tongue plate lunch, boudin, sweet dough pie, fresh oxtails, marinated pork
11. Bourque's Supermarket (Port Barre) - boudin, fresh "sweet heat" sausage (jalapeno & pineapple), hogshead cheese
A lot of this stuff will go in my freezer until the cooler winter months. plenty of great meals ahead

Is Ponce good? Just tastes like whatever the filling is?

When I first saw that list, I thought you ate all of that on one road trip.

All I ate yesterday was the tongue plate lunch, the swamp burger, the little chocolate tart pie, and a couple cookies (which I didn't really care for). The stuff from Love Bonez was for my wife and son.

Ponce is excellent. I liked the smoked ponce. It's basically a sausage roast. I brown it, like a roast, then add a little water, cover the pot and smother it and it makes a nice gravy. Slice it like a roast and serve it with rice and gravy, a side of greens, black eye peas, vegetables (corn or sweet potatoes) or potato salad or cornbread.

Yes, very good.
Correct, the flavor profile is basically the stuffing.
Absolutely does not taste anything like chittlins.

Tastes like smothered sausage with rice gravy & onions … texture kinda like seasoned & smoked meatloaf

"famous" pink cookies
The rest of your list looks good.

The stuff from Poche's was disappointing. Boudin wasn't very good and the sweet dough pies had so much allspice they were inedible.

Rods in CP, hands down best smoked sausage.

No mention of their best item? Jalapeno Cheese and Sausage Bread!

Didn’t get any this time. They also used to have the best bread pudding I’ve ever had but they no longer make it.
