LINK

They want to put the goalposts on the end line, shrink the field to 100 yards, and reduce the size of the end zones... fans aren't happy

Saw that…I wouldn’t like it either.

The uniqueness of the CFL is what makes it any sort of a draw IMO. The Canadians see it as Americanizing the game. It looks that way to me too. It seems like there’s no realistic reason to shorten the field.

I've never thought of this until now, but do Canadian high school and college teams play on CFL field dimensions and use CFL rules?

Why not merge the leagues into the nfl at that point? Make it like the nhl where there’s just one North American football league

they should have the same rules as the NFL. CFB should also. IDK why the leagues wouldn't all want the same rules.

CFL is the older league. It more closely resembles rugby style, which I assume is where it was derived.

It is. The term "touchdown" makes no sense unless you come from rugby, where a try only counts if the ball touches down in the end zone.

Honestly, the concept of touching the ball down in the end zone would solve a lot of the issues with crossing the plane, is it a TD, etc.

That would suck.

The CFL would become just another generic football league.

The commissioner of the CFL must hate his fans as much as Roger Goodell hates NFL fans.

Yes. They all abide by Canadian football rules.

Reading the story on the CFL website they gave one of the reasons for the changes is to produce more TD's and less field goals. So why not just move the goal posts? that would likely accomplish this without any other changes. IMO all of these moves are a big mistake, it takes the uniqueness of the Canadian game away.

I like different leagues having different rules, it allows for experimentation and evolution.

I even like college and pro having different rules slightly for that reason too.

Because the NFL has no interest.. NFL teams are worth Billions and CFL at most 30-40 Million

Sports evolve and become better...should we go back to goal posts in the field of play. Fields min 100 yds up to 200 yds. No passing, etc? How about do away with 3pt line in basketball, shot clocks etc. That CFL stuff is crap and the reason they are changing rules is to make it more entertaining.

There is one thing that the Canadians do in football that I wish the NFL and colleges would adopt.

Forward motion behind the line of scrimmage for the receivers.

Is it? I don’t think it’s crap, just different. The rouge change is good, as I don’t think you should be able to just boom a kick out of the end zone without it going through the uprights in a tie game.

They don’t necessarily become better. The NBA product has worsened with analytics. I think we’ve seen a slight downtick with other sports as well.

Was in Vancouver when the team had a home game. Those Canadians are passionate about their football.

Elaborate please. I have not heard this argument and would like to read a well reasoned response that supports the argument.
