I'm offering my employees menstrual leave — because thinking periods don't affect your work is outdated
The story behind Tori Dunlap's menstrual leave policy.

Periods are a part of life for many, but talking about them — and the challenges of working while pushing through painful cramps and energy-sucking fatigue — remains largely taboo. In a 2023 UVA Health study, 45.2% of women using the Flo app reported needing to take time off due to period symptoms, but most felt they lacked workplace support to address these concerns.
Tori Dunlap, founder of Her First $100K, wants to change that. In a recent LinkedIn post, Dunlap shared her company’s new policy offering menstrual leave, stating that it’s the “human” thing to do.
“Periods can be painful, exhausting and debilitating. Pretending they don’t affect work is outdated,” Dunlap wrote “We build policies around reality, not stigma.”

Dunlap has long been a champion of empowerment for women and other marginalized individuals. After managing to save $100,000 at the age of 25, she quit her job to build a business — which includes the Financial Feminist podcast, a book and programs like Stock Market School — that would inspire her followers (particularly women) to reach their own financial freedom. Dunlap herself is already a multimillionaire at the age of 30.
Now, she’s found a new way to push for workplace equality — by recognizing the ways in which menstruating individuals are disadvantaged when forced to work through pain. In this interview with Yahoo's Priscilla Blossom, Dunlap shares what inspired her to create the policy, how it works and what the response has been.

I'd like some time off when I get the runs.

Let’s just see how long this policy lasts in her company before it is seriously abused.

Since men can have periods, too, I appreciate my new fringe benefit.

Hey boss…I can’t work today, I got “male problems”.
What does that mean? You didn’t get any last night?
Go in the back and work by yourself for a little while.

This will lead to nobody wanting to hire females anymore

I thought that we had gotten past that.

Men should get at least twice that amount of time off for having to deal with all these c*nts during their menstrual cycle.

About 25 years ago I became supervisor for an office of about 25 employees with 80% female. The women prepared a global chart of their personal cycles and designated the weeks I had to be wary when dealing with them. It was all in good fun, but I did make it a consideration in my decision making at times. LOL

How as bout you just give the guys a few days off during that time to get away from the insanity? Then the women can come in to work, take it easier and get support from each other.
Also, it’s called sick leave.

So men and women are.. different?
Based?
Not sure leave is the best way to address the issue. I mean that's 12 x what 2-3 days? All on paid leave?
You sure about that? Oh, but then complain about men getting paid more than women for the "same job". Men are doing more work. And giving far more in return.

I had seen that the other day.
My first thought was…. This is a virtue signal publicity thing…
You don’t need entire leave day(s). You can just be an understanding boss that doesn’t demand 100% productivity all the time and allows for some menstrual impacted days.
It’s funny because all the women’s liberation movement was to prove that women were no different than men. Should be treated equally.
But am I missing something? What is a resident female’s opinion on this?

Does it apply to men identifying as women?

So men can't take advantage of this policy (black men will be affected the most). Women who have been through menapause (I can't spell that) can't take advantage of the policy (they gonna be big mad! and again, black women will be affected the most). And, what about women that have a penis and don't even really menstrate? I guess screw them huh? (and of course black trannys will be affected the most).
This is sick! Maybe one of the most racist and fascist things I have ever seen. That lady should be arrested.
