New Orleans area. Willing to drive a couple hours to look. No idea what they cost for quality pieces, but assuming we’ll be spending at least $3k.

Looking at leather (or similar?). No pets atm, but may get a medium sized dog down the road.

I know to avoid Ashley Furniture.

You aren’t going to find anything decent for $3000 unless it’s Rooms To Go or Asley.

Maybe Frankie & Johnnie

I have a sectional from Joybird (online retailer) which I have been very happy with. One of my concerns about online ordering is you can't tell quality before the piece arrives. This one exceeded my expectations with quality construction and good fabric options.

What's the issue with Ashley Furniture? Never bought anything from them, just have no idea.

We have been happy with our sofa & recliner from American Factory Direct, but we did not do leather due to cats

Family friends with a guy who's parents owned a furniture store. He will not buy any brand other than Mayo when it comes to sofas.

We are very pleased with our Mayo couch after his recommendation.

They didn't do sectionals to my knowledge at the time but maybe that's changed.

I was about to come here and recommend them. We got one not long ago from Ashley and I like it.

Went to the one near elmwood about 2 years ago. Took pictures of the couches I liked then went home and ordered it online. Delivery and set up was simple. No issues on my end and the couch is still great.

We went the Lovesac route. My wife loves it. She didn’t want leather anymore and wanted off-white. Nightmare potential for dirt, but we can remove the covers and wash them. She also wanted more seating than our previous sofa + recliner. We bought five sections to make a sofa and love seat, but then we bought an additional section to expand it. Very flexible.

Since we bought it they’ve added reclining sections as an option.

Not cheap. Seems well constructed though. Certainly not for everyone and, quite frankly, not the most elegant of sofas.

They have sales often for 30% off or so. Never pay full price.

How comfortable are those? They look really firm, and we prefer and have become accustomed to our plusher sofa

Go to the flex steel website and find who sells it around you. Go to store and pick layout, style and fabric you want. Best made sofas

Those old local commercials will live in my mind forever. They were some cheesy crap on late night TV.

They have different cushion firmnesses. We have the Comfort Soft (I think it is called). Costs a bit extra naturally. Very comfortable for lounging using one of their bases as an ottoman. Not good for my posture though. Some say the regular softens with time - it does feel firm in the store.

We got the slanted backs. Wouldn’t want the straight back - you can feel that through the cushion

Worked in the industry for several years. Ashley sells a mix of high and low end. What you need when going there is a salesperson that knows the difference and can point you to the section and price level you seek.

I’m seated on an Ethan Allen now, back when Ethan Allen was all across Birmingham. This couch and love seat will go to my granddaughter because she loves the color.
