Wasn't Sloan also the OC last year? Pass offense ranked #7 in the Nation with 318 yds/gm.

What is different this year? With arguably a more stacked receiving corp??

We arent abandoning the run like we did last year. And this offense line isn’t as good at pass blocking as last year’s. We have also faced two elite dlines. Ole miss, south carolina, and vandy’s dlines are much inferior.

I watched highlights from Nuss last year and it looks completely different.

I am baffled.

Either Nuss is injured, Sloan has regressed as a play caller, or teams are just playing them differently and they can't hit anything over the top

Teams are playing us differently AND Kelly knows he has an elite defense so he's not gonna let Sloan open it up unless they have too.

I think Nuss is hurt but if he is hurt, they are doing a great job of not letting it slip that he is hurt. With all of the people "in the know" I feel like we would have heard something by now about Nuss being hurt. He seems to have no zip on the ball and looks like he is hurting.

Teams are playing to now allow the deep ball but many times against Florida they had everyone in the box because they knew we were not going over the top and our running game sucks. they took away the crossing routes and dared us to throw deep. This tells me that our play calling could also be due to our o line sucking so bad.

To be able to throw the ball down the field, you have to give the qb time to throw - this offensive does not give the qb time to throw.

Nuss hasn’t practiced much and has had nagging injuries. He is getting better but the timing with the WRs and mental reps will continue to get better

No, he doesn't. Nuss had a 56% completion percentage agaisnt SEC teams until we played the last 2 teams. It jumped up to 64% after that.

Nuss wasnt as good as yall think. This is who he is.

Yards are meaningless. Nuss’ efficiency stats were average to below across the board.

This.

BK is dictating the flow. Sloan will throw it all over if allowed.

Then explain why we are ultra conservative to start games. (Nothing over the midddli until the 3 rd possession). Then Sloan manages to get us 14 to 20 points. The it is back to running up the middle and sideline routes.

We only get aggressive when needed.

Wasn't Sloan calling more passes last year instead of just run up the middle at least 2 of 3 play calls per set of first downs?

We need to be in a 4 WR set just about every snap (one WR could be a TE) with a single back. Spread the field and open up the run by passing first. Nuss can make the right decision on quick to 15 yard throws. Our O-line may not yet be good enough for deep routes, but they can block for a couple of seconds for intermediate routes.

This is wrong. this years line is just as good as last years overhyped OL.

The 2024 OL got overhyped. This is due to all bad blocking in 2023 was bailed out by generational talent and future NFL MVP/ Super bowl Champion Jayden Daniels

Don't forget the OL in 2023 allowed JD to get lit up all game vs Mizzou until JD said frick it.

We have a turnstile at right tackle right now so that doesn’t help. Need to start chipping which takes away a receiver but may not have a choice soon. It’s handicapping the offense.

So you're telling me La Tech has an elite D-line? I'm not buying it, but Nuss was sacked at least three times in that game, pressured numerous other times, and had a no more distinguished performance than at Clemson and v. Florida.
