It appears the officer was indeed and I quote "ready for this"...

Man was likely highly intoxicated...

Looks like suicide by cop to me...

He definitely sounds that way in the portion of the video with sound. Also, it sounds like he was armed and the gun ended up on the ground during the initial scuffle.

And it sounds as though the man was instructing his son to pick up the gun, which means that the son watched his father get killed.

This one may get interesting.

Guy was probably on his way to his college night class and this officer murdered him in cold blood. RIP king.

We'll know the era of contrived racial injustice is over if we can just move on without much fanfare over this one.

Shrug.

It’s not the cops problem that the guy is drunk and refusing orders with a gun in his face.

Just in general if someone is pointing a gun at you, why would you try and fight the person?

Nothing is gonna end well for you

It looks like the cop had ample opportunity to trade his firearm for a taser. That’ll definitely come up in court. Regardless whether he did the right thing, or could have made a different decision to spare that hoodlum, I’m sure cops like that are forever haunted by those moments.

I’m not saying it is. All I’m saying is that it’s unfortunate that a son watched his dad die first hand, and that the “optics” on this one is likely going to make the fallout “interesting,” unfortunately.

shifting to taser would have given perp advantage to attack

If taser was used and it mis fired cop would be in scuffle with larger perp.

Taser is situational not last line of defense for an aggressive perp

Case closed officer should be cleared.
