The Libs of TikTok account keeps coming across my Twitter feed. She keeps posting people that have said unhinged things about Kirk. it seems like 50% of those are in education somewhere and the majority of those teach English. I wonder if there is an explanation for this trend?

Imagine devoting your life to teaching kids a language they already know.

Literature makes them feel emotions and libs give into their emotions and act crazy. Also majoring in English and becoming a teacher isn’t exactly a difficult thing to achieve

Because their careers are based on nothing. “Words” that now can be found on ChatGPT. They are scrambling for relevance. Now they see themself as the recruiters to keep their failing organizations going.

ETA: and that’s the programs that the lgbtq+ gravitate and feel comfortable in. Many of the rebellious are from those communities. They see conservatives as enemies.

A lot of English teachers are former theater kids who decided to be English teachers for the Literature & playwrite studies.

That’s my best guess.

ETA: It’s also relatively easy to be certified to teach that subject with a basic Language Arts degree as your undergrad.

Your average English teacher is a failed writer. O.k., maybe not "average," but a higher percentage than most disciplines.

Someone who aspires to write novels or poetry or something, and who does do those things as an amateur in their spare time.

They fancy themselves as an "artiste."

And "artistes" have to be leftists.

It's part of the self-perception.

EDIT: The above theatre tie-in also makes sense. Either way, whether it's acting or writing, they see themselves as being more "sensitive" and "enlightened" than those who do not work in the arts.

I took English 101 or some shite at Bama my freshman year, and coming from a private school in rural Montgomery County AL, that was the first time I was exposed to "social oppression theories" or whatever you want to call it. That was in 2006.

Every once in a while, you get an English teacher who made a positive contribution to society. Tragically, he had mental health issues, poor guy:

but yeah liberal arts teachers are loony leftist nutbags

It gets proven daily that most people are terrible at it, speaking and writing.

Been that way for decades. Even when I was in school. The English profs were atheist, leftist scum.

And I often wondered, why English? Not sure I ever figured that out.

I have a BA in English. It seems like the instructors and professors go one way or the other.

You have the cool ones who hang out at football games, do cooking projects for/with students and are part of various on-campus events.

You also have the ones who fit the leftist/cat lady/glasses crew.

We are seeing the second group in action.

I was lucky. All of my English profs in college were elderly men. They were fantastic.

I can name 5 liberal white males from my town and an English teacher at the high school is one of them. Jeans, goatee (no stache), sock tie from the 80s, fashions himself as a bastion of intellect.

Math classes require you to learn math.

English classes require you to learn the professors preferred writing style/ideology and write compositions tailored to that. Got pretty good at writing a bunch of bullshite.

Too lazy to get a real degree, like many other intellectuals!

My best guess.

STEM disciplines are largely grounded in physical constants which are not arbitrary. Not so with literature. So when they have to break up the party in the teachers' lounge and return to class after bashing conservatives, the STEM teacher still has those untameable physical constants to contend with and the English teacher can go back to brainwashing their unwitting students.

they are career educators. They've never held a real job outside academia. They were indoctrinated themselves and now see it as their duty to pass it on to future generations.
