My guess is most people who havent heard of him are not on social media much (which isn't a bad thing) OR are not conservatives.

My 80 year old liberal mother in law told me yesterday she had no idea who he was, but I'd expect that from an 80 year old liberal.

Anyone, liberal or not, under the age of 50 who didn't know who he was just simply wasn't paying attention to current events/politics. He's been engrained in conservative grassroots efforts for a long time.

Every conservative under the age of 40 knew full well who he was. I've been following him closely for probably 5 years.

I had heard of him but have never really had once seen or followed his videos or what he was doing on college campuses.

After yesterday, naturally all my feed is those videos.

May he RIP. Terrible that someone is America was killed because of their speech and political ideology.

He was a good hearted guy who gave a platform to opposing views.

They would get big mad b/c they couldn't properly articulate their position so they started hating on him.

well the lack of social media applies to me - I really only hang here, and never go to the PT board.

20% of Americans are radical Left
20% of Americans are radical Right.

The other 60% of us have better things to do than worry about politics. Things like work and raise kids, go to church, have fun with our friend and families. You know, things that don't require wifi.

This country seriously needs to touch some grass and talk to people face to face.

I knew who he was, but I didn't know much about him. Other than he went to college campuses and debated people politically opposed to him.

I'd heard of him but that's about it. Kinda like I'd heard of some senator from Kansas or something. Im on social media but not politically. I post on the PB occasionally. I'm honestly shocked I didn't know more.

My 11 year old said she knew about it. I'm going to ask her more when this calms down.

I didn’t know who he was either. He sounds like he was a great guy.

I don’t follow politics. I get 75% of my political information on this board and the rest from the old guys bitching about stuff at work.

I have come across his videos within the past few years, but at first, for awhile I just knew him as "the dude who went to colleges and debated with people on campus". When I first heard about it, I was pretty sure who it was, but I had to check to make sure.

I like the idea behind what he did, but I can only take politics in waves. I might go three weeks where I don't want to hear about it, read about it, etc then a week later I will follow it pretty close.

Its just that what happened to him isn't supposed to happen in this country. As shitty as our government can be/is, we are still not some 3rd world shite hole where the government will have someone killed for disagreeing with those in charge and for someone to be shot in the middle of a forum on a college campus goes against everything we should be able. And I think a lot of people, on both sides, forget about this. Social Media has caused people to go mad.

Over the last year or so I saw a bunch of videos and clips of him at his debates. I liked the cut of his gib, and I guess it became a part of my YouTube algorithm. I knew that he was a Christian, had a family, and was with Trump on the campaign trail. Outside of that, I didn't follow him because I don't do other social media. Until Wednesday, I never heard anyone else speak of him. When the news came that he had been shot, I was surprised to see how many people at my work reacted to the news. I came to find out that a lot of people here had been following him for a long time. My kids texted me about it. I asked them how did they know who Charlie Kirk was and they reacted "we've been watching him for a long time!" Even my wife (no pics) had been following him on social media. So the guy really had some reach, and I am glad that he did, especially with the younger folk.

Same for me. I've never seen his name brought up on the Poli Board or I would have at least heard of him.

I dont use Youtube or social media for political debate though. It's too draining and no one is changing anyone's mind, no matter how compelling the argument.
